He got one NYtimes piece written about him and EVERYONE including the press were outraged over it. This is definitely a foreshadow of things to come. The media always craps on our democratic candidates, it happened with Gore, it happened with Kerry, it happened to Hillary, its happening to Obama. So while you guys are fighting over Hillary and Obama b/c of all these negative stories about them, McCain is coming away looking like a Saint! Hes schmoozing with the press over freakin BBQ wings. Yeah thats the big story this weekend about him, "McCain throws a bbq for the press". Great...our first chance in a long time to actually win the presidency and the dems are fighting it out like little babies. And yes Hillary takes a big part of the blame. Her bashing of Obama is not only give repugs ammo against him but it is also bringing up her negatives. At first I was very hopeful that we'll have a democrat in the whitehouse this year... but I give up. I'll do my part and donate to the nominee but I'm really pessimistic at this point.

1. Meh. I think this is more a function of the fact that there's still a Democratic primary.
Were the Huckabee-McCain race actually worth covering, there'd be a lot more mention in the press of those candidates. But as it stands, there's nothing worth talking about there. Once the Dems have a definite nominee, we'll see more coverage of McCain.

3. Is he getting any press at all?
It's probably hard to cover someone who sleeps 20 hours of the day, waking up only for the early bird special.

4. NYT count as "press"?
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/03/us/politics/03mccain.html?ref=us
Headline: "On Signature Issues, McCain Has Shown Some Inconsistencies in the Senate"

Could be written to be far more negative than it is, partisans could probably spin it as somehow covertly positive for McCain ("praising with faint damns"?), but it doesn't strike me as intended to be positive, but negative.
