I really don't like primaries

I like general elections. The Real McCoy. The Real Thing. The Big Dance. The Main Event. Nobody remembers primaries for long. They are a mere blip on the radar screen of history, and they just get in the way of the real election.

Sometimes I just wish the whole thing could be decided in a smoke filled hotel room, and we could get on with the whole thing.

Then again, if we did it that way, Hillary would surely have been chosen (at least in January). So we can't do that, but we need a primary process that has an exit strategy, that is designed to bring the process to a quick end. Perhaps some winner take all primaries, or maybe raising the threshold needed to win delegates in the proportional allocation states.

I don't pretend to have any solutions.

1. Iowa and N.H were designed as a winner take all strategy.

Fortunately this year it didn't work. Though the party insiders still have the Superdelegates even that may not work this year.
