Your completely confusing guide to tomorrow's voting...

note -- all times are Eastern Time Zone

Vermont
Primary - polls close at 7:00 PM

Democrats elect 10 “district” and 5 “statewide” delegates based on statewide results (proportional; 15% threshold)
Republicans elect 17 delegates based on statewide results (WTA)


Ohio
Primary - Polls close at 7:30 PM

Democrats elect 92 delegates based on Congressional District results (4-8 delegates each; proportional) and 49 delegates based on statewide results (proportional)

Republicans elect 54 delegates based on Congressional District results (3 delegates each; WTA) and 31 delegates based on statewide results (WTA)

In addition, this is a primary election for Congressional races. Two notable races to watch are:

CD-2 (Cincinnati)
“Mean” Jean Schmidt has two Republican opponents, and Dr. Victoria Wulsin (2006 Democratic candidate) runs against Steve Black for the Democratic Nomination

CD-10 (Cleveland)
Dennis Kucinich has three Democratic opponents for his Congressional seat


Texas
Primary – polls close at 8:00 PM followed by Democratic Caucuses starting at 8:15 PM; Caucus results expected by 9:30 PM

Democrats elect 126 delegates based on State Senate District results (2-8 delegates each; proportional) in the Primary and another 96 delegates through the Caucus process

Republicans elect 41 delegates based on statewide results (WTA if top candidate gets 50% of vote; otherwise proportional)

In addition, this is a primary election for Statewide and Congressional races. Four notable races to watch are:

CD-3: Sam Johnson (R) who proposed dropping nuclear bombs on Syria runs against two Republican opponents

CD-4: Ralph Hall (R), the oldest-serving member of the House of Representatives (87) runs against four opponents for re-nomination

CD 10: Actor/Lawyer Larry Joe Doherty (“Texas Justice”) runs against Iraq Security Contractor Dan Grant for the Democratic nomination to run against Republican Mike McCaul

CD-22: Ten Republicans (including 2006 candidate Shelley Sekula-Gibbs) fight it out for the right to try to take Tom Delay’s seat back from freshman Democrat Nick Lampson


Rhode Island
Primary – Polls close at 9:00 PM

Democrats elect 13 delegates based on Congressional District results (6-7 delegates each; proportional) and 8 delegates based on statewide results (proportional)

Republicans elect 17 delegates based on Congressional District results (8-9 delegates each; WTA)
