Not a snark-Breaking News: Hillary Clinton endorses John Mccain!!
Edited on Mon Mar-03-08 06:53 PM by Tropics_Dude83
If she loses.

If she believes the below, how can she justify a vote for Obama in November? She has to vote for Mccain.

Hillary Clinton told re1porters that both she and the presumtive Republican nominee John McCain offer the experience to be ready to tackle any crisis facing the country under their watch, but Barack Obama simply offers more rhetoric. "I think you'll be able to imagine many things Senator McCain will be able to say," she said. "He’s never been the president, but he will put forth his lifetime of experience. I will put forth my lifetime of experience. Senator Obama will put forth a speech he made in 2002."

The entitlement reeks. She thinks that this is owed to her. This is the real hijacking. The Goldwater girl is hijacking the Democratic party to continue to run a republican lite administration.

Clinton Says She and McCain Offer Experience, Obama Offers Speeches

From CBS News' Fernando Suarez:

FORT WORTH, TEXAS -- Hillary Clinton told reporters that both she and the presumtive Republican nominee John McCain offer the experience to be ready to tackle any crisis facing the country under their watch, but Barack Obama simply offers more rhetoric. “I think you'll be able to imagine many things Senator McCain will be able to say,” she said. “He’s never been the president, but he will put forth his lifetime of experience. I will put forth my lifetime of experience. Senator Obama will put forth a speech he made in 2002.” Clinton was referring to Obama’s anti-war speech he delivered in Chicago before entering the United States Senate.

Criticism has been leveled towards Clinton as well, though, especially her claim that she is ready to be the commander-in-chief on "day one." When asked at the press conference if she could name a particular instance in her past that equips her to deal with a national security crisis, Clinton balked, saying, “Well, I was involved in a lot of the decisions that were made. Again, you are looking at it from the wrong perspective,” Clinton said. “You know, no one who hasn’t been president has done that, so that’s not the right question. The question is, what have you done over the course of that lifetime to equip you for that moment?”

Texas voters will go the polls on Tuesday to give her the answer.

59. Exactly. A Clinton Presidency = a GOP Congress
thats why so many want her to get out now, there's no coattails to ride
with a Clinton nomination.

And the GOP turnout will be crazy wild if she is the nom.

We're talking President McCain possibly and a loss of congress.

23. It's one thing to point out why you're a better matchup than your primary
opponent, but it's a whole different matter to argue that your primary opponent doesn't even match up to the Repuke candidate.

It's out of line and she's obviously decided to torpedo the Democratic Party if she can't have the nomination.

Did I just fall into a parallel universe or did a Democrat, wife of the former Democratic President of the United States, just say the presumptive Republican nominee is better qualified to be President than her Democratic opponent?

This a new low in politics. I've been disgusted by her behavior the past two weeks, but this is beyond the pale.

I wonder if the DNC has heard about this?

At this point, I'm half-expecting Clinton to pull a Lieberman and run on her own if she doesn't get the nomination?

Edit to add: I hope the Obama campaign is on this. Maybe they can file some kind of formal complaint with the DNC... I'm not really informed about party processes or rules.

July 29, 2006
2008 May Test Clinton’s Bond With McCain
By ANNE E. KORNBLUT

WASHINGTON, July 28 — Two summers ago, on a Congressional trip to Estonia, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton astonished her traveling companions by suggesting that the group do what one does in the Baltics: hold a vodka-drinking contest.

Delighted, the leader of the delegation, Senator John McCain, quickly agreed. The after-dinner drinks went so well — memories are a bit hazy on who drank how much — that Mr. McCain, an Arizona Republican, later told people how unexpectedly engaging he found Mrs. Clinton to be. “One of the guys” was the way he described Mrs. Clinton, a New York Democrat, to some Republican colleagues.

Mrs. Clinton and Mr. McCain went on to develop an amiable if professionally calculated relationship. They took more official trips together, including to Iraq. They worked together on the Senate Armed Services Committee and on the issue of global warming. They made a joint appearance last year on “Meet the Press,” interacting so congenially that the moderator, Tim Russert, joked about their forming a “fusion ticket.”
~~snip~~
It was during their joint trip to Iraq in late February 2005 that Mr. McCain and Mrs. Clinton appeared via satellite on “Meet the Press,” an appearance that put their civility on display. When Mr. Russert asked Mr. McCain at the end of the interview whether he thought Mrs. Clinton would make a good president, Mrs. Clinton came to his rescue, saying: “Oh, we can’t hear you, Tim!”

“Yeah, you’re breaking up,” Mr. McCain added, laughing. But then he said: “I happen to be a Republican and would support, obviously, a Republican nominee, but I have no doubt that Senator Clinton would make a good president.”

Asked the same question about him, Mrs. Clinton replied without skipping a beat: “Absolutely.”

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x100435

Lying SOS wouldn't even give Edwards or Obama the same courtesy when asked that same exact question in a debate in January (NH). She dodged it and answered why SHE would make a good president instead.

Vile.

As I said elsewhere, it's not the first, last, or worst attack she's sent Obama's way. I think it was a stupid comment to make, I don't think it will help her campaign, and I don't think it reflects well on the direction of her campaign, particularly in the last few weeks.

That doesn't make her comment an endorsement of McCain, though. As for our GE chances, experience will certainly be an issue in the general election. You can bet that McCain will mention it at least as often (and likely/hopefully as unsuccessfully) as Clinton has.

what the OP and the news story said. Like I said earlier, it doesn't reflect well on her or her campaign. I can't imagine why she thinks such things will be helpful, but it's not really out of character with how her campaign has gone in the last couple of weeks and months. With luck, tomorrow will put an end to it.

70. there's reading between the lines, and then there's making stuff up
it's hardly the first, worst, or last attack that she's made in the campaign, but it still doesn't equate to endorsing McCain. Experience has been her main theme throughout the campaign. Personally, I think this quote just undermines her position: if experience trumps everything else, what happens if the GOP nominee is more experienced than even she is. But that aside, pointing out that experience will be an issue if McCain and Obama go head to head is not the same as endorsing McCain. You can bet that McCain will mention experience as often (and likely/hopefully as unsuccessfully) as Clinton has.

No need for disingenuity. She makes an obvious comparison between Obama and McCain, and Obama doesn't measure up at all. By her reckoning, if she is not the nominee, only McCain will be qualified.

97. I don't see that as a new Vote McCain twist
I hadn't seen the video before Yael posted it, but it isn't that different from what is quoted in the OP. The truth is, she's been saying basically the same thing since it became clear that McCain was going to be the republican nominee--that McCain had experience and she had experience and Obama didn't. I don't think this comment will help her, but it's not out of character with how her campaign has gone in the last several weeks (and in particular the last two). Her rhetoric has gotten sharper as the writing in the wall has gotten clearer, but I see it as a difference of degree, and not of kind.

108. Then will McCain's "experience," which Obama lacks, lead her to support McCain...
...if she isn't the nominee? Or is "experience" nothing more than a talking point?

Which of the two do you think she favors?

60. oh christ on a cracker!
can you people possibly just learn the english language, perhaps read entire sentences?

I am no fan of HRC, but it is obvious that her point was that the republican candidate would point to his record and readiness and contrast it with Obama. She wasn't praising the bastard, just saying that he had that card to play, and she could go toe-to-toe with him. You can disagree that she has the experience she claims, but don't try to say she was saying mccain was better than obama

If you want to fight, pick reasonable fucking fights. This is ludicrous!

"He’s never been the president, but he will put forth his lifetime of experience. I will put forth my lifetime of experience. Senator Obama will put forth a speech he made in 2002."

And please, if you believe Obama's rhetoric, then it's clear he wants to meld the parties into one.

This is called politics. And she just socred a hit, evidently. And her point is right on. Obama is no match for mccain. At some point, reality will come in.

I didn't hear any Obama supporters crying foul when he compared Hillary to gouiliani, and romney, and bush/cheney.

She said she had a lifetime of experience.

She said McCain had a lifetime of experience.

But she said Obama only had a speech he gave in 2002.

Not only is this a bogus and UNTRUE statement, she is clearly claiming that McCain is more qualified AND worthy of respectful consideration when Obama is not.

95. Yes. She might have gotten away with either talking point in isolation.
Put 'em together, though, at a time when she may be losing the nomination, and it's fair to conclude that she will vote for McCain--or that she's hoping for a spoiler as McCain's VP.

I assume that she hasn't actually lost her mind. She needs to issue a "clarification" pronto.

Now, all you folks were so quick to believe a blogger posting quotations from a CBS blog...did any of you bother to even look that it was a question on who would be able to match up against McCain's foreign policy experience? Nooooooo

March 1 Dallas,

"“I think you'll be able to imagine many things Senator McCain will be able to say,” she said. “He’s never been the president, but he will put forth his lifetime of experience. I will put forth my lifetime of experience.Senator Obama will put forth a speech he made in 2002.”

Gee, much different than a blogger claiming Hillary was endorsing **MC CAIN**, huh?
