Can you say something that bothers you about the candidate you support?
I know this will invite snark and flippant posts that don't really criticize one's own candidate, like "I don't think Obama has laid into the bitch enough."

But, what the hell, maybe some of us will see some honesty and fair mindedness in the supporters of the opposing candidate, when we see them owning up to their own candidate's weaknesses.

So here goes.

I think Hillary does not have the speaking skills nor the innate sense of political timing that Barack does. I think, on many levels, he's a far more gifted and natural politican than she is.

I also think he has a strong argument to make for "turning the page." I'm not wild about only two families in the WH for twenty-eight years if Hillary wins and serves two terms.

1. I do not like the recent 'experience' quote. It's within bounds, but I don't like it.
Edited on Mon Mar-03-08 07:51 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
(As always, with the caveat that I no longer even bother with these edited videos and selective quotes. I'll wait the 24 hours it takes to get the non-BS version of things.)

It has always been obvious Obama was vulnerable... I wish she had been that sharp earlier.

But at this particular point in time, it discomfits me.

On the other hand, if I thought she was anything less than ruthless and undeterable, I never would have supported her at all.

You buy a pit bull for a reason.

2. Obama needs to be clear in face of the attacks.
Maybe he can a union show up at a christian church or something and give a press conference.

and says that she'd be much better than John McCain.

doing a terrific job with that wish of yours.

23. Nah, we need to live by the slogan of that police academy class a while back
Their slogan was "Cause PTSD" And I truly think that Obama supporters and Obama himself need to be so aggressive that Hillary's supporters are unable to even think about politics again without soiling themselves until about late October. :-)

24. Well, I can't tell if you're being playful or not, because
there are so many verbal militants posting "stuff" in this forum.

But, if you're being serious, I don't know why you want Hillary supporters to hate Obama so much that they won't vote for him if he's the nominee.

Democrats need every vote possible.

and I thought her comment in the last debate about always being asked the first question was trivial and not necessary.

She has relied too heavily on advisers and Bill's buddies.

Of course, if you think about it, that's actually kind of an asset in a leader.

15. Obama: A tin ear to LGBT rights.
I remember a post of Obama's biggest mistake. Nearly all of the posters said McClurkin. It's not about McClurkin, its not about discrimination, it's about the HUMAN RIGHTS of LGBT human beings.

17. Thank you for your honesty
Here's my confessional as a supporter of Barack Obama:

He needs a new stump speech. I've heard the same speech about a hundred times. Don't get me wrong. He adds new touches and topical points but he needs some fresh material.

In turn, I think Hillary Clinton would make a fine president.

The problem lies not with the knowns but the unknowns. I watched Ann Richards ride into the Texas governor's mansion on a blaze of glory. Then she spent the next four years getting hit with every petty-ante trick by obstructionist Republicans and Democrats. I saw her leave that office a broken woman - broken by that bastard in the White House.

I know how the story goes. Both Hillary and Barack are going to face the ire of some truly awful people with power. Each one is fully qualified to handle the actual job of president, IMHO.

What concerns me is, who is better to handle that ire? Who will incite that ire more? Who possesses the temperament to quell the ire and convince Republicans to realize that it's time to stop fighting and get things done?

27. You said it well
I have a major problem with the "unity" message, largely because I'm an ardent believer that partisanship actually works and that historically the most partisan candidates have made the best presidents. It's a hard call, because I also think Obama has more grace and better television skills - therefore he's better equipped for the bully pulpit.

His stump speech is getting a bit old. IF I hear that Cheney joke one more time... :)

20. I wish Barak would be more openly liberal and progressive.
With his political skills and basic instrincts, he could be the kind of transformational figure that would make it safe to be a liberal again.

But he'd chosen to be more tame and "pragmatic" and trying to be a centrist.

P.S. I don't think it would counteract his basic message to be more openly liberal. Part of the job is selling that political philosophy to the swing voters and disaffected Republicans. He could be a strong advocate without alienating people.

I don't care for the candidates the media has given us, but I have no choice considering the alternative. I am left with making a choice based on my "experience".
