Exactly what were Clinton's National Security duties...
as First Lady?

On what basis does she lay her claim of vast national security experience?

3. Ask Mark Penn, then go for a latte while he comes up with a response
(That's what happened to John Dickerson of Slate when he asked during a conference call ... pregnant pause, followed by no real answer.)

14. I don't know about Clinton, but Obama's bill with Lugar
on non-proliferation is serious work on the issue Kerry said in the first debate with Bush was the most important threat to the country. Bush copied Kerry's answer - though it was hard to tell if he believed it or just didn't have an answer.

16. She never even had a security clearance!
As first lady, Hillary Rodham Clinton jawboned the president of Uzbekistan to leave his car and shake hands with people. She argued with the Czech prime minister about democracy. She cajoled Catholic and Protestant women to talk to one another in Northern Ireland. She traveled to 79 countries in total, little of it leisure; one meeting with mutilated Rwandan refugees so unsettled her that she threw up afterward.

But during those two terms in the White House, Clinton did not hold a security clearance. She did not attend National Security Council meetings. She was not given a copy of the president's daily intelligence briefing. She did not assert herself on the crises in Somalia, Haiti or Rwanda. And during one of President Bill Clinton's major tests on terrorism, whether to bomb Afghanistan and Sudan in 1998, Clinton was barely speaking to her husband, let alone advising him, as the Lewinsky scandal dragged on.

Edited on Mon Mar-03-08 09:48 PM by milkyway
I'll take Obama's experience over hers, and he's certainly a much better manager than she is.

28. exactly,
she has taken the repuke tactic of repeating something, anything long and loud enough until it's accepted as fact.

Fact is she's an empty suit, her words are cheap, her experience is sorely lacking and her campaign speaks volumes about her abilities and her true persona!

39. Only since 2003
But at least that's an answer.

So, she's been on the Armed Services committee for four and a half years. That's certainly better than no experience. But, umm... is this honestly a "lifetime of experience" here?

I think her proximity to the events in the WH does also add some to her experience.

Another surrogate said it was that she had traveled to 80 countries.

It seems like she actually thinks her "experience" and McCain's are roughly comparable.

That makes me worried.
