I can only imagine how much nastier this forum will get if the nomination goes to convention.
Just reading the forum tonight I'm seeing completely juvenile name-calling on the maturity level of 'You're stupid.' 'No, YOU'RE stupid.' 'Well, you're a doodiehead.'
This isn't political DISCOURSE, it's sweaty apes hooting at each other and throwing feces. Nobody gives a rat's ass about changing anybody's mind, they just want to cover their opponents in shit.
I think I've given up on any hope of there being a restoration of civility here.
The best I can hope for is that it'll be over soon. Very, very soon.

2. And don't forget:
Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Sally, Peppermint Patty, Linus and even Lucy! And of course, Woodstock.

As a lifelong Peanuts fan, couldn't leave THEM out!:eyes:

B-)

5. amen!
The atmosphere is toxic. Some just automatically attack a member of the "other side" just because.

I doubt many minds get changed because of these posts. It would be nice if we could just get information and well-reasoned opinions. But I guess that's not this website. At least not now.

I fully expect some of the hate to continue even after we have our nominee. Some Deaniacs and others never got over Kerry getting the nomination and were the first ones to pile on when he didn't get the Presidency and keep piling on whenever Kerry's name is mentioned even today.

But I, too, hope that those people will once again be marginalized and the better posts will be in the majority again.

6. It'll be better once the nomination is settled...
and they crack down on that kind of garbage.
I agree though, that toxic posts change NOBODY'S mind...they just make people more determined to vote for their candidate of choice. So what's the point of spewing venom? To make themselves look good. Pure and simple.

7. My fear is that come November,
we'll all be wondering why our candidate (whoever it is) lost to John McCain.

Ever get the feeling that we're doing nothing more than damaging goods in here?

14. Fortunately, nothing we do in here is going to do much lasting damage to anyone but ourselves.
I'm confident of that at least.

8. You mean you haven't been swayed over to the other side with the scintilating arguements of...
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 12:52 AM by rpannier
Your candidate is a traitor to the Party

Your candidate will cost us the election in November (There seem to be a lot of psychics at DU... I'm always amazed that none of them have won the Lottery. I guess it must only cover politics or something)

Your candidate is secretly a republikkan shill

You're an idiot for supporting your candidate

Your candidate is a LOSER

(BTW: These deep intellectual arguements go for a small group of supporters on both sides of the abyss)

oe edit:
I left out

I will NEVER vote for your candidate so if you don't want to lose in November you better vote for mine

11. Every day this primary goes on I come a little bit closer to casting a protest vote for Nader.
And yes, I'm in a safe Democratic state.

As it stands right now I'll still vote for the Democrat, but damn please let it end soon. PLEASE.

12. I can't condone voting for Nader.
If you must cast a protest vote, just stay home, or vote for some other third party or write in somebody...please don't give that egomaniac any attention.
