By a Large Margin, Dems Want Clinton to Remain in Race Even if She Loses Texas or Ohio
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 01:32 AM by zlt234
--snip--

Democrats by more than a 2-1 margin say Hillary Clinton should stay in the presidential race even if she loses either the Texas or Ohio primary on Tuesday. But if she fails in both, fewer than half say they'd want her to fight on.

--snip--

If you look at the pdf, it shows that nearly half of Obama's supporters (46 percent) want Clinton to stay in if she only wins one state. Guess this is a reminder that DU does not accurately represent the general populace :)

7. Maybe they don't understand the delegate situation
If they did, they'd answer differently, which goes to prove the media bias has been in Hillary's favor.

11. Maybe the media wants them around...
..for advertising dollars. Fighting more means more ads, more "press stories" more money for the media.

They don't care who wins, who loses, as long as they keep making money.

12. Bill Richardson said the candidate with the most delegates after tomorrow should be the nominee.
It would take a miracle for her to pass Obama in delegates tomorrow. The odds against that happening are astronomical. Rumor has it, Richardson will endorse the candidate ahead in delegates then and that the party elders will press the other to exit the race.

Say hello to President Obama.

15. I do think Americans, Democratic Americans; want to go to the convention...
Have a convention, and not just a coronation and then show the world what an energized electorate looks like. And I agree. It's not even America for some to suggest that anyone leave the field with a race so tight, and with the rest of the primaries yet to be counted. That's just to RNC for me.

Let the delegates show up, let the speeches be heard, let the delegates cast their lot by state (it can be boring but I still love that part), have some eats & drinks, let the balloons & confetti fly...and THEN let that nominee come forward.

That sounds more like America to me :patriot:

18. K&R for democracy's sake Even though i prefer Hillary lose
i do think she has every right to stay in the race whatever the outcome in TX and Ohio.
If you don't think Obama can handle Hillary, then maybe he shouldn't be running. I think he can. I think the democratic party can handle debate.

Nothing wrong with elections with choices. Some elections should even have more than two choices.

Same thing with Nader. He should have the right to be on the ballot, you should feel free not to vote for him if you wish. But demonizing him for merely being on the ballot is a bit foolish. it is, in fact, anti-democratic.

23. Read the fine print (at the end of the main article) and note the wide margins of
error implied for a soft-edged group such as "Obama supporters" among "Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents". Then the "46 percent of Obama supporters" who purportedly want Hil to keep going even if she loses TX or OH" has to be taken with much skepticism. In particular, "Obama supporters" who only are LEANING toward Obama might disproportionately want Hil to keep going, so they'd get more information for a final decision.

There were only 629 "Democrats and Democratic-leaning Independents" in a national sample of 1,126 (including Republican "leaners"), with a claimed 4-point margin of error for that subsample of 629. Reduce the 629 further to the 50 percent of "Obama supporters" among them and you've got likely double-digit margins of error. Take into account that most of the oversampled African-Americans (215 out of 1126) would fall into that small subsample of "Obama Democrats" and you've got a very small group of non-African-American Democrats and Independents with very high subsample weight. An appropriate margin of error on that "46 percent" could be 20 percentage points or more.

28. I think there is some fear
that Obama will trip big time or loses such momentum and there will be no-one to pick up the pieces.
I don't actually anticipate that happening but I do think there is an uneasiness with his marketing campaign that leaves people - some of them - a bit worried.

32. yes,--this lastest poll says that-those late deciders-swinging to Hillary

URL:

……How did she pull ahead? She clearly increased support among white men and Hispanic men, mostly based on her late campaign focusing on her fitness for military command. She also enjoys strong support from white and Hispanic women. One thing that could prove significant is that much of Obama’s recent advances in the Houston area seem to have dissipated.

“Among those in Texas who were just making up their minds in the last few days, Hillary now leads by four percent, which pretty much tells the story.”********
