It isn't the only problem but it is a major problem.

We need universal healthcare, not universal insurance companies. Both of them are supporting healthcare through insurance companies (in other words, more privatization, more continually rising costs for the consumer).

Sorry Hillary, your proposal isn't enough. Sorry Obama, your proposal isn't "change" or "hope".

1. Consider, of the two of them, who is more likely to listen to the clamour of the people...
I believe Obama will listen. Hillary seems less likely to listen (in OH SO MANY WAYS).

5. I feel exactly the opposite of that, with regard to health care.
Her plan allows people to choose government run options, by the way, just as Edwards did.

8. you sound like a true sucker for campaign promises
you do realize they are both POLITICIANS who already both seem to prefer selling insurance over universal coverage, right?

2. Yup, health insurance is a stop gap measure that will lead
to the same thing: collapse of our health care system.

I don't think universal health care will happen until its so unbearably obviously in bad shape.

7. Hillary's plan offers people the chance to choose a government run options
which will compete with private insurance -- and which will probably offer better rates and coverage, since they will won't have to allow for a profit margin. And she's made it clear that if private insurers can't compete with the government plans, then the private insurers can leave the field. So her plan might very well lead to single payer in the long run.

Her plan and Edwards were very similar.

9. And my employer is going to put me into the Government health care plan?
Fat chance I say.

10. From what I understand, you, not your employer, would be making the choice.
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 05:04 AM by pnwmom
And I think a lot of employers would welcome the chance to get out of the health care business.

11. Well right now my employer is paying 100% for me.
I highly doubt I'm going to switch over.

13. However it doesn't mean that my health insurance will cover me
well if I get sick or anything.

For everyday use, it is fine. I haven't had to use any of the catastrophic stuff so who knows how good my insurer is. You never find out how bad your coverage is until it is too late.

14. You're right -- a catastrophic illness is the true test.
But my feeling about Hillary's health plan is that, since it would offer the same plans that the Senators themselves can choose, it must be good. They're not short-changing themselves, that's for sure.

3. Change Minds, Change Votes
If people wanted single payer, they'd be proposing it. People take on look at the VA and don't trust government controlled health care.

4. Gotta be more Canadian -- Just cant figure out why the Holdup...
Thank goodness i am Canadian because healthcare is just plain strange in the US...i mean, just get it done already by taxing everyone a nominal amount and Universal Health care instantly....it works great...i have never had to go to the hospital for anything (not even checkups) and i still vouch for this method of healthcare....

From what i have read though i feel Obama is the better choice .... it lays down the foundation for what hopefully will be like Canada in the future.
