Well I have stayed out of the debate, I have stayed out of GDP, I have avoided the war and the insanity except for one or two posts calling for a unified Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama ticket. Well I still hope for a unified ticket, but after Hillary attempted to play the fear card I have to throw in with Obama. Sorry Hillary supporters but I cannot in good conscience throw my hat in with a candidate who is going to try to spend another 8 years keeping me "in line" by throwing out the fear that my children will not be safe if Obama answers the phone at 3am. I still hope for a unified ticket and I wish Hillary well. Obama in 08'!

29. I am a parent but even if I weren't that was basically threatening children

it is wrong AND people are just simply tired of being afraid. They are worn out by it and have figured that living is better than sitting and waiting to die. At least that is the pulse that I have taken.

As Kentuck posted here today, it's something to behold how Obama still keeps it all positive in spite of the Clintons' shameless dirty campaigning at all costs.

37. The difficulty of a unity ticket

This is not meant to disparage Hillary but in the mechanics of the whole thing it may well be she would not be Veep. Self exclusion takes several forms, the greatest being what some might say is counter-intuitive. By hugging large voter groups, going hard and negative and wounding the other guy so much that something might appear that is almost blackmail for a unity ticket. The reverse is usually true. The two nominees have a tough enough time getting along(and their campaigns) and this puts the "need" far second to harm. Then there is the need to follow the cardinal rule(despite media creep Wolf Blitzer's disingenious gushing over a "dream ticket". Choose no one who will harm the ticket. Added to that is having too much symbolism on the ticket and not having anyone who may be delivering new electoral territory.

The more she fights bitterly, the easier she makes it for Obama to bypass her. That is the positive side of her upstream Penn Potomac paddling to the Xanadu WH. More likely, with her AGAIN emphasizing the experience issue it makes it far far easier on all ways for him to pick someone like Richardson. The upshot of this last ditch effort could actually be serving Obama and the party's interest in the long run. Who knows? Even the fearful and cautious super delegates may get some spine and follow behind the people and the rules to ehlp on the common sense side.

Way out on the other side of this, after Hillary has also defanged her bloc of convention power to DLC the party by not switching to issue broekr status soon enough, one can sit back and admire her once more and the tremendous effort she has put forth that, no matter how you look at it, has helped forge a stronger party ticket(with a few glaring exceptions that might have happened anyway). The loser in the personality battle has been progressive issues and the democratic wing of the party. That will be the continuing unresolved battle long after Hillary's campaign is a Tsongas like memeory.
