Obama Supporters: Something you may not know

As you may have heard, the Obama campaign kicked off in Pennsylvania last weekend with "Leadership Training" meetings throughout the state. The response was overwhelming with over 1,900 people showing up statewide to learn how to organize their neighborhoods.

In any case, I wanted to pass on to my fellow DUers something that was discussed at the Philadelphia meeting. This comes from a very connected source that I will not identify because this info is not public knowledge, "as far as I know" (Hillary Clinton, "60 Minutes", 3/2/08). Several other DUers were at that meeting and they are more than welcome to corroborate my report, or call bullshit.

So here it is:

Obama has asked his aides to keep him supplied with call lists of people who have donated $25 or less. When he has spare time (i.e. when he's traveling and pissing reporters off by not schmoozing with them), Barack goes through these lists and personally calls and thanks the donors. Why? Because he believes that people who donate these small amounts of money are usually the ones who sacrifice to make these donations possible. These donations mean the most to Barack and he wants the donors to know that. More impressively, this is something that he does NOT want the press to know about, lest the personal significance of the phone calls be destroyed by publicity.

So that's it. I think this action speaks for itself and I don't want to presume what it means to all of you. All I know is what it meant for me and my faith that I am working for the right person.

a candidate doesn't want it to be a photo op, but they want to do something. If they really wanted to draw attention to it they could, but it would be pretty corny and fake. Am I making any sense?

21. so a friend of my sister's is working for the O in Texas

she happened to bump into him at a bar and got her picture taken with him. He has this awesome cheesy grin of genuine happiness on his face. Not like a "please god let's get this over with" smile, but a real one.

We sent him a Birthday Card after his Convention Speech.

We donated $10 after that ~ since that time we have always received a Christmas Card and mailings that really don't stress a donation.

We got the cute picture with Michelle and the kids that is on his website way before it was on the web.

It may have been on their Christmas card.

His communications are polished and reflect warmth and kindness.

There is something about them that causes you to donate and know that he is your friend.

26. I have heard that he is calling people who have volunteered and

working full time with him and super delegates. Richardson said that he had calls from Bill and surrogates and others etc but he only hears from Obama on the Obama campaign. And when he said it you could tell he was amazed.

I think the $ 25 call is very rare but I think you are right that he works the phone as hard as anyone in the campaign
