Today early exit polls (via Talking points memo)

Early Exits
03.04.08 -- 6:09PM
By Josh Marshall

I'm looking at the second wave of exit polls. They show an Obama blowout in Vermont, which was entirely expected and basically dead even in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island, the latter two of which would be pretty substantial surprises. At this point in the cycle, though, I think we should remember that the early exit numbers have been significantly off the mark from the final results in a number of cases. So not just one grain of salt but several.

With a big warning, of course.

1. Well this has to count as a moral victory for Clinton. On to PA!
Except Vermont, which is basically a Xerox of South Carolina.

Although I don't think it's that either.

9. How the fuck is this a moral victory for Clinton?
This is a total fucking disaster. Two weeks ago she had twenty point+ leads in three of those four states. Now she might lose all four, which I have to say I am shocked that Obama is doing so well in Rhode Island which I had all but conceded to Clinton.

This is a disaster for Clinton. That even with the press finally succumbing to all her blubbering about being biased and going after Obama, after launching two separate negative campaigns against Obama simutaneously, and after dumping all her resources into Ohio and Texas she still gives up twenty point leads in both. I don't know what the hell happened in Rhode Island to her campaign.

If these numbers hold, she is done.

11. Can I decide what posts I want to post, or does the Clinton campaign decides that as well?
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 06:33 PM by Mass
Apparently, the Clintons and their supporters do not like free speech either.

18. Some interesting demographic results from Ohio and Texas.
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 06:44 PM by Drunken Irishman
Ohio:

45% of the voters were white women.
30% white men.
12% black women.
8% black men.

Age could be a concern for Hillary, as only 26% of the voters are 60 and over, 33% are 45-59, 27% 30-44 and 13% 17-29.

80% of Ohio voters said they made up their mind in the last week or earlier.

Texas:

26% of the voters are white women.
21% of the voters are white men.
18% are blacks (that number is extremely low for Obama, so he better hope many voted early, or he's going to take a hit).
18% Latino women.
13% Latino men.

24% of the voters are 60 and over, 33% 45-59, 29% 30-44, 14% 17-29.

Of course these numbers are pointless until we start seeing which demographic voted for whom.
