I made history today!
:woohoo: I voted today for the first woman presidential candidate!

My father had a pen on his desk till the day he died at 95 in 1998. He cherished it because Elinor Roosevelt signed something with it. Well today I asked permission to keep the pen I used to vote for Hillary. It will go on my Granddaughter's desk some day...until it's replaced with a pen that was used to vote for the first woman president that WINS. Sadly I think it might be generations before it's replaced...if ever. What woman would want to place herself into the firing line of all the misogamy that Clinton had to absorb and the male woman haters that wouldn't vote for a female CiC if their lives depended on it. It's a shame but true.

5. Very cool Auntie!
I didn't vote for her because she was a woman, so I was surprised at how I felt after I left the polls Super Tuesday. It was a bigger deal for me than I expected. I still have faith she'll hang in and win. We shall see!

34. I also didn't vote for her because she was a woman.
I sincerely felt she had more pertinent experience and could have changed the way Washington is run as well as Obama...if she had a Dem congress. Don't know if that's true but that is why I really voted for her. The fact that she was a woman made me originally look at her and I never changed my mind.

I was suprised at how emotional I was after I voted. Who knew? :D

6. I don't think it will be generations.
I think it will become normal to have female and minority candidates in the top tier now that the barrier has been broken. At least, that is my sincere hope.

8. Actually,
everyone who votes for the Democratic presidential candidate will make history, whether its for the first woman or the first Black.

This is truly a historic time. We should celebrate and appreciate the moment.

If Obama loses, I do hope other Blacks would not feel discouraged about seeking the office. :hi:

9. cool....
something cool for me...

when Bill Clinton was in Arlington, TX last week, I got my first edition "My Life" signed.
Actually, it was my grandmother's copy. It meant so much to me. My grandmother would have just loved that!
My grandmother passed away just short of her 85th b-day in January. She was a Hillary fan.

I had been on the fence of which one to go with, but after much consideration and in deference to my grandmother's wisdom,
I am going for Hillary!

I'm even going to help with the caucus tonight if necessary.

Thanks for your story. My own grandmother told me how her own mother didn't vote, so I guess it was important for grandma to see a woman running.
Hillary's right....women's rights are human rights.

I would have voted for her had Obama not been in the race and I think the race would have been long over by now.

27. What a great post!
I love the idea of the pens. I too had a thrill when I voted for Hillary in my state's primary. I didn't expect to, because her being a woman was only one of a host of reasons I voted for her, and not the primary one.

And yet...I felt proud of being a woman, proud that I could vote for one for the presidency. Win or lose, Hillary has my thanks for this campaign.
