2. It may not be a good campaign slogan
but it's sure as hell the TRUTH. I expect no miracles.

3. In the last 7 years, we faced a shuttle disaster, worst terrorist attack, 2 wars,
, two recessions, huge inflation, a loss of respect in the world community, and a host of other nasty things.

If ever there was a time people were hungry for hope and a change of direction, it's certainly this time.

That's why it's a message that sells.

Fatalism has it's place...but so does optimism.

4. Oh, I know, I'm just old and tired...

I think maybe the more idealistic people are when they're young (which I definitely was), the more cynical they become as the years pass. I truly thought we could change the world. You see how well that worked out.

I don't begrudge Obama his message -- I just don't know how easy it'll be to pull off with the hole we're in.

5. As Churchill said: "Give up, give up, give up!" oh, wait...
he said NEVER give up.

Don't be Blue, blue in AK! Chances are if you're in AK right now, it's a small touch of seasonal affective disorder.

6. Thank you, and, of course, you're right,
although I don't think it's SAD that's bothering me. I've been living here since 1975, so I'm pretty used to the dark in winter. Besides, we're getting a lot more light now, and spring is around the corner, so on that front I'm feeling pretty optimistic.

Mostly I think I'm just worn down from almost eight years of the Bush boy. I'm so sick of that bunch. If we can get a Democrat -- ANY Democrat -- in the White House next year, I'm sure I'll be fine. :)
