Rather than focusing solely on abortion, Huckabee brought important issues of poverty and health care to well within the bounds of the fundamentalist brain. We should overlook that. It will probably help us in November in ways that run much deeper than getting rid of Mitt Romney.

He gave evangelicals a way to vent their frustration on McCain in a way that did not hurt him in the primary.

He completely knee-capped Mitt Romney who seemed to be an ideal candidate for them in a lot of ways.

He never once attacked McCain and instead consistently propped him up.

And he is going to give him full cover for Evangelical voters durin the GE.

He also comes across as a genuinely decent person. I would never want him running the country. I would easily vote for him for head of my homeowner's association though.
