"I don't belong to an organized political party - I'm a Democrat."
Thank you, Will Rogers. I heard that phrase a number of times tonight.

I voted in the Texas primary and stayed for the caucuses.

In 2004, Kerry was already nominated by the time Texas voted, and there were about a dozen people in our caucus.

Tonight, there were at least 700 activist Democrats, and this is a 90% GOP suburb in a very GOP state. The crowd was about evenly split between our two candidates, and, despite the fact that: 1) the caucus was 45 minutes late starting (big turnout!), 2) there was a severe shortage of sign in sheets, and 3) there was a distinct lack of any real centralized leadership, everyone remained calm, jovial, positive and polite. It was SO unlike GD-P that it restored my faith in my fellow Democrats and reminded me how UNlike real life DU can be. (As much fun as I have here, it's SO much better outside - outside the rancor, outside the vitriol, outside the circular firing squads.)

I love election days.

5. We signed in our preferences and left - they'll count the sheets after the fact.
It's not like and early season caucus with 6 candidates, with only two candidates left, and everyone pretty well decided, there were no speeches or lobbying.

Still - I got to vote twice! :D

2. So who won?
Glad you enjoyed yourself. I must admit I'm jealous. I'm in IL, and we have primaries, and rarely "count" - since we're a given Blue state.

10. See my post #5
And I have to say, I was actually happy to see national political ads down here. We're so GOP, no one ever spends their campaign money on media buys in Texas.
