Just got home from my Texas caucus
We had 114 show up. 65 for Obama and 49 for Clinton.

The caucus was to begin at 7:15 or until teh last person in line got to vote in the primary. That didn't happen until almost 8:30.

3. Does no one live in most counties?
I'm looking at the county results. There's counties that are 100% reported with 20 voters. What's that all about?

5. In West Texas there are some counties with sparse population
and even sparser Democratic voting populations.

9. Arlington precinct 2319
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 10:46 PM by tammywammy
Tarrant County. There were two other precincts there. The other one that was in the same room, was split 52 Obama, 48 Clinton and also had a total of 14 delegates.

The third precinct was in another building, so I don't know how they worked out.

8. Just got back from mine Austin / Travis 225
I just got back from my caucus for precinct 225 in northern Travis County (suburban Austin.) Another precinct (217) met at the same location, the community center on Shoreline Dr.

There were at least 300 people I'd say, maybe as much as 400, for both precincts, in this relatively small community center which consists of a basketball court, a few workout rooms, and a few other small meeting rooms, none of which was big enough to hold the entire precinct meeting.

It was pretty chaotic but mostly kept under semi-control. There was some initial confusion about the meeting locations, we didn't even get talking until 7:45 or so and initially met outdoor in the courtyard to appoint a chair and a secretary via a show of hands, though some at the back couldn't even really hear what was going on.

Finally we moved into the basketball court area and formed a long line. Then we waited to sign the sheet, another 2 hours or so for me, maybe 3 hours total for the people at the back of the line.

I didn't stay for the after meeting (I had already been there 2hr30) but judging from the groups outside at 7:15, Obama supporters outnumbered Clinton supporters by at least 2:1, maybe closer to 3:1. The Hillary supporters were definitely more, umm, "shouty." Besides the organized cheers waiting outside, there was one young man (a Hillary supporter) in particular who kept trying to interrupt the appointment of the chair and secretary, repeatedly implying that it was being scammed or stolen somehow, but we managed to muddle through it.

Some of them (from both sides I assume) unfortunately left early when it became clear there would be a 2-3+ hour wait. We did at least let people with small children with them go first. The Republicans in our precinct, all 10 of them, did show up at 8pm and resolved their business in the gym fairly quickly.
