3. Everyone get a grip & a drink.
TX is not even close to being over. Waiting on big cities (harris for example) and Caucus results.

OH will narrow some, again - big cities, and 99% of Cleveland is still out.

4. From thread #3
Wow, come on now! Clinton has a 19000 vote lead. He's got a 44000 vote lead in Houston/Harris county with only 1% reporting. Dallas? 41000 vote lead with 13% in, Austin? 31000 vote lead, 9% reporting. Guess where the highest concentration of delegates are? You got it. It's WAY too early to throw in the towel!

6. From now on, there should be No More Mr. Nice Guy
No more Mr. Nice Guy. Take that Kitchen Sink she just threw and launch it back her way. Start to bloody her up. Start talking up about divisive and polarizing Hillary is. Start criticizing her lack of experience and the fact that she claims she is tested, when in fact she hasnt been tested. Lets go back to being the insurgent candidate. Go after her, and show some passion. Also, do as many big arena events as you can. It always helps with the headlines when he does this. And as for me? I dont have money to spend, but I spend it anyway on an Obama donation.

That is, to have a viable chance of catching up in delegates.

Granted, tonight is not the blow out we'd hoped for...but Obama still prevented Hillary from getting any where near that 62% in TX.

He still may pull out a caucus win there!

The math favors Obama.

El Paso just did not start coming in. Around 12% of their vote was already in. CNN is updating their map and assigning % to the early votes in each county.

Same deal with Harris county. They just assigned a % to that county eventhough the vote totals did not change.

This is going to get much closer than you think.

79. All right, it is time for a pep talk.
Did y'all think this would be easy????

This is EXACTLY what we need to set our priorities straight.

I still think Obama will win Texas.

And will come out with a net gain in the delegates tonight.

But that being said, did you really think the status quo was just going to go gently into the night, stepping aside so that we could all enjoy a government free of special interest and built upon the participation of the American people?

Hell no! The status quo threw the kitchen sink at us. And it is up to us to throw it back in their direction.

#1 - You need to donate $$$. Even if it's just $10.

#2 - You need to refute the kitchen sink smears/lies/distortions. If you don't know how, ask somebody.

#3 - If you are in a state that has an upcoming primary, volunteer to work for the campaign and sign up as a poll watcher per your elections regulations.

Anyway, I'm going to block out the MSM for a few days until they settle down with the Hillary love. Good thing I'm going out of town in two days so I can get my mind off of it. :) By the time I return they will be talking about the next primaries. Don't be too down Obama supporters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We knew that these were Hillary strongholds and he dipped into them a lot. The next states aren't so favorable to her. Plus Obama is still leading in pledged delegates. So stay positive! :)

Clinton's lead will be too big by the time they get to Harris County. Unless, somewhere, Obama cuts that lead back down to 20,000 or so -- but right now it looks like she'll be around 50-60,000 by the time they begin fully counting Harris County.

She knows she cannot win in '08, so she wants a shot in '12. Best way to achieve that? Sabotage Obama.

The venom and bile and viciousness will continue for months, probably all the way to the convention, and Obama will get the nomination, but he'll be damaged goods.

And the people that once flocked here with hope and new blood will be disgusted, disillusioned and demoralized. They'll take their ball and go home.

McCain will win in November. And we'll get four more years of war in the Middle East, four more years of an eroding middle class, four more years of lunatics being appointed to the Supreme Court, four more years of a health care system that leaves us for dead, four more years of Bushie hell.

All so Hillary can run in '12. Thousands will die and suffer so she gets her shot.

And he won't make that up, even if he wins big. He'll probably cut it down to 20,000-30,000 votes, but this is a huge lead for Clinton at the moment.

173. Your Gal in Ohio is still Fired Up!
We're still winning in Cincinnati... crushing, to be honest. That's where I was. I remain a true believer that Math Actually Does Count, no matter what Mark Penn says.

"We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can withstand the power of millions of voices calling for change.

We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics who will only grow louder and more dissonant in the weeks to come. We’ve been asked to pause for a reality check. We’ve been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.

But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope. For when we have faced down impossible odds; when we’ve been told that we’re not ready, or that we shouldn’t try, or that we can’t, generations of Americans have responded with a simple creed that sums up the spirit of a people.

Yes we can."

234. I hate Hillary Clinton. I detest her supporters. Yes, I'm using a broad brush, I don't care. The
hypocrisy and fear and dirty tricks and character assassination are all too reminiscent of George W Bush. And that's exactly what we'll get if she continues. I guess I'm one of the holdouts from the horror of 2000/2004 who just wasn't ready for this again. Maybe there are more like me, who are so fucking sick of this dirt and slime they can't stand to see it "winning", not even one state. Can't stand to turn on the TV and see the manipulation and the deceit and the lying. Since when do you do what she's done and get praised and rewarded for it? And we wonder why our society is corrupt.

Maybe me and those like me will hole up again, hide our heads in the sand and just peek out every now and then. The Politics of Hillary fucking Clinton are not for the tender hearted. And the followers of hers who inhabit this board are just about some of the nastiest and ugliest I've ever run across. I wish all of you luck here. For now, its back to life before Barack for me.

286. So you agree
You detest me, even though you don't know me? (I am a HRC supporter and I don't try to say anything mean about anyone here.) I don't detest you. We just see things differently is all.

I have always been a volunteer for my local Dem party. I volunteered in '92 and '96. In 2000 I worked my local headquarters with a 4 month old attached to my hip. In 2004 I gave my daughter crayons and paper to draw on while I worked the phone banks and helped with data entry. I dragged her around neighborhoods in her little red wagon while I canvassed. And I was on call all day long on election day, driving those needing rides to the polls.

Comments like this are not the way to retain longtime volunteers for the GE. Ya'll hate me, ya'll detest me so why would I want to put my butt out there and volunteer for my party? Ya'll have made it clear that ya'll don't want me around.

287. Yes, I know how you feel.
I guess that's what happens when campaigns turn too negative: lots of people get turned off to the whole damn thing.

I don't detest anyone. I sympathize with how you feel and with how the poster I was responding to feels. When you really care about something and it seems like it gets walked all over, you don't feel like caring anymore.

I walked around, called, organized, argued '92, '96, 2000, 2004, 2006 months on end just like you did. Sometimes when it seems like all that work is in vain, like the race just goes to whoever can play the meanest game, I start feeling like it's not worth the trouble.

Anyway, it was an Obama thread, I couldn't follow anything because on my dial-up a 300 post thread is pretty impossible, and I was in a pretty sour mood. Sorry if I stepped on your toes. I wasn't so much agreeing with the details of what he (or she?) said as sympathizing with the feeling.

288. DU has turned into a place where most
HRC supporters are viewed as poor white trash. Jokes have been made on here about white sheets and trailers. (Don't get me started on comments about trailer trash. That's a typical classist comment which brings me out of the woodwork and into fighting mode every single time.)

It's just become too much here. I swear that I'm dealing with a group of high schoolers on a daily basis, most of them forgetting that the "feet on the ground" volunteers in the fall will be from the group that they've done their damnedest to run off.

285. I don't hate you. I don't detest you.
I'm one of her supporters and I don't hate anyone. I'm more of a "agree to disagree" kind of person.

We each support different candidates for different reasons. There is nothing wrong with that. Last time I checked it was still legal to do so.

I think that we can all be civil and support the person we choose to support, without hating on each other. (Oh, and without being called racist. I was called a racist the other day IRL by a young man just because I have a HRC bumpersticker on my car. He screamed at me and at my young daughter, stating that people like myself deserve to be "lynched". I was polite and didn't comment on his tee shirt-a black shirt with white print stating "I support single mothers" with the silhouette of a woman dancing on a stripper pole-because that would be wrong.)

Anyway, you can hate me but I won't hate you back. I'll still love you as a member of the human race and will adore you for being the liberal that you are. I also hope that things get better for you soon and that happy days are in your future.

264. she was better than average kept it short looked like a winner would have
been fine if Obama didn't follow her and look not only like a president but a world leader.

She had her little anecdotes about the mother, daughter etc but the key was she made it clear that she was going on and tried to sound like she was ahead again. I am sure that her followers thought it was a moving and inspriing speech. Those that don't like her didn't see anything that would cause vomitting and those in the middle (who can be in the middle at this time) probably thought it was one of her better speeches. She had a couple of quotable lines in there that got big cheers and will probably be featured in upcoming ads - also there was the pitch for more money (i am sitll wondering if that isn't what this is all about - raising money for a future war chest?)

262. i think what happened
Is that the Obama people went out early and voted in big numbers. So there weren't the 25% margins left to vote today.

He still won the 3 big counties by 20%, but the numbers today, especially in Houston were closer.

266. We Need to Keep Our Heads and a Sense of Perspective
Which candidate planned for the long run and a tough race within their own party (and after)?

Which candidate has a ground game - right now - in upcoming states?

Which candidate leads in delegates?

Which candidate will get a large bump in SD's?

Which candidate leads in fund raising?

Which candidate's site lets you phone bank from home?

(Which candidate needs more servers since this system was overwhelmed at points over this past weekend?)

Which campaign's store has been flat sold out three weeks running?

Which candidate leaps double-digit gaps that would doom most others in an ordinary race?

Which candidate taught a class on the history of every nasty trick used to suppress the vote of 'unwanted' voter bloc (minorities, women, the poor, those going up against political machines) -- for the last hundred years?

Which candidate knows our electoral system and its laws inside and out?

Which candidate represents the breed of politics you'd like to perpetuate -- and see as our dominant model for the next 60 years?

Chin up -- tomorrow is a new day.
