23. It is.
It's cold outside and we also have a pretty bad flu going around.
Personally I'd rather the older people stay home and not risk dying from pneumonia to cast a vote.

22. There you go
The caucuses are a hassle.
They start late...takes forever to get everyone signed in...very hard for working people--especially shift workers to get involved.
Not so hard for the youth that are supporting obama.

8. Many who voted today in the Texas Two-Step Did Not Show
for the caucus tonight. What will make the difference is whose supporters did, whose supporters did not, who has the stronger caucus members.

9. I suspect the makeup of caucus goers is different in some way
and whatever way it is different, it seems to cause them to lean towards Obama (at least so far).

15. Working class people having jobs, can't afford to go to caucus, afraid of the political process.
It's not anonymous, it's run by local party members who are active in the process, people like anonymous polling, this is irrefutable.

I bet a lot of the people who didn't caucus were latinos.

21. Did they go when Bill Clinton ran on '92 & '96?
Texas used this same system for every election since '88, and the Clintons liked it ok then

20. I voted & caucused and it was TOUGH to caucus with kids/work. It was a huge pain.
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 12:45 AM by ctaylors6
I had to sneak out as quickly as possible and was lucky my caucus didn't take so long since my precinct is small.
Since you had to show up at particular time, it's basically like holding a primary vote for only 1 hour. IMHO, a stupid, stupid way to elect anyone. Yes it probably brings out the strongest supporters, but IMHO it excludes so many that really do want to vote.

edited to add: I also don't like the complete lack of secrecy. I don't think that democratic (little "d")

12. Then it appears that...
Texas is, basically, Obama's. AND...therefore, in terms of states won, tonight was essentially a draw.

Hillary can claim all the "regained momentum" she wants to. But the delegate math, and the number of states won, still favor him, decisively. Don't despair, folks; very few candidates--or even great teams--win 'em all. But in the end, Obama will win the most--and ultimately, will win the presidency. :D

B-)

24. Very true
US presidential elections aren't won by landslides. Look how close the last two have been.

That's because the losing candidate often resorts to dirty, negative campaign tactics to close the gap on the leader. And Americans are always stupid enough to fall for it. Look how well it has worked for Hillary. Overnight, she has narrowed Obama's 11 state lead through her scorched earth campaign. It has gotten her a lot closer than before, but she's still far behind.

16. My precinct went 90-40 for Obama...HRC is fucked when the caucus results come in
While we were there some woman shared with us what a friend texted her...Obama won the friend's precinct in another part of our county.

Our's got done at 10:30 PM---cuz the repukes run the county and short changed the Dems on voting machines---last voter got to vote at 9 pm---2 hour long wait all evening long. We got 2 machines to use, repukes got FOUR (which sat unused, no lines).
