So much for it being close ... fortunately, for the country, TX, OH, and RI voters saw through the smoke screen.

In fact, Republican Williamson county ran out of democrat ballots. People on the radio were cracking jokes about it.

46. Who's tactics???
We are being played by repukes...

They are putting their thumbs on one side of the scale or the other, whenever they see the scale tipping.

They don't care who we run, they just want to make sure that we don't decide on who we run for as long as possible.

Those aren't Obama's tactics, those aren't Hillary's tactics... those are Oxycontin Rush's tactics. And they are WORKING.

Why do they want this??? look at what's happening here at DU... lot's of flame bait, lots of hate, lots of "I'm not voting in November if X is the nominee"...

They love this shit.

President McCain loves this shit.

100 more years of war in Iraq. Shit, forget Iraq, let's bomb Iran! His fundy preacher guy wants to bring about the end times anyway!

Health care with mandates/no mandates... Forget it, no health care for anyone!

The present votes on "right to life" bills in the Illinois Senate... HAH... President McCain has your supreme court overturn of Roe V. Wade right here!

Raise taxes on the wealthy and balance the budgets... Hell no... we will just keep floating more loans from our Chinese overlords!

Restore the Constitution??? overturn the Patriot Act, the Protect America Act, the Military Commissions Act... hell no, we will be spied on like never before, all for our own good!

26. and that means what?
she can be the captain of Club Dem?

Really, why do you folks here believe that this is such a strong suit for her? Because Democrats are not the majority of voters...

That she cannot attract independents and crossover republicans is not a sign of strength, it's a sign of weakness. To win the GE, she will NEED those voters. Why will they vote for her in the general but not in the primary?

Or do you really believe that she can win in November without anyone other than Democrats to count on?

41. yeah, that's true.

Unfortunately they didn't get THEIR race wrapped up soon enough to cause real mischief with our primaries. Of course, there were many many threads here in the past few weeks making the claim that the reason OBama was winning so big was Republicans crossing over to stop Hillary.

Nobody has to be registered with a party affiliation to vote in a general election.

Heck, some places you don't even have to be registered to vote at all (you "register" when you get a drivers license).

Party affiliation only matters if you want to vote in a closed primary.

But never in a General Election.

13. Party maniplation of the popular vote aside ...
She won, he didn't ... among American voters, that is ... and, while he might be able to intimidate or manipulate delegates ... Texans have spoken, and it's up to him to dismiss their vote.

34. your post makes no sense.
she won among American voters??? Why, is Obama winning among non-American voters?

and it's not party "manipulation"... it's the Democratic Party. Democrats made the rules. They made them long before Obama was a candidate. And there isn't any intimidation going on, just voting and caucuses according the rules set forth by the Democratic Party of Texas. You don't like the rules, complain to them.

Texans haven't "spoken", they went and voted. And we don't have winner take all primaries.

Obama will get 10 more delegates (at a minimum) out of Texas than Hillary did. That's a fact.

And in this race, it's all about the delegates.

54. i estimate obama will take 7 more delegates than HRC from Texas
from tonight's action, I'd estimate (using proportional allotment unless otherwise noted):

Obama picks up 179 delegates
Clinton picks up 189 delegates

1) Texas - 193 delegates
a) Primary (65% of state delegates are assigned via the primary)
HRC - 63
BO - 62

(i got these numbers from the actual TX secretary of state website)

b) Caucus (35% of the state delegates are assigned via the caucus)
assuming the BO55-HRC45 split
HRC - 30
BO - 38

2) Ohio - 141 delegates
assuming the BO43-HRC55 split
HRC - 78
BO - 61

3) Rhode Island - 21 delegates
assuming the BO40-HRC58 split
HRC - 12
BO - 9

4) Vermont - 15 delegates
assuming the BO60-HRC38 split
HRC - 6
BO - 9

My PCT 342 in Austin, TX the largest caucus in Travis tonight voted overwhelmingly for change.

My PCT voted 67% for Obama. My PCT gets 103 delegates to send to the Senate District convention at the end of March and our PCT will be sending 69 delegates for Obama to Clinton's 34.

Just like NH.

Weeks before the primary, Hillary is up by 20+

3 days before the primary, Obama catches up and takes a tiny lead.

The day of the primary, the momentum is gone a bit, and Hillary wins by 3.

Conclusion, She did so unexpectedly well, she's the comeback kid...

Say what?

Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 02:12 AM by depakid
The poll companies are like every most other companies in America these days- hire them to do a cheap poll, and they'll give you what you seem to want, regardless of what it's really worth.

It's a beauty racket- everyone wins (except those who don't) and even they have very short memories.
