Roll of Limbaugh in Hillary win should be examined by party.
We need to take a look and see how much of a roll Republican cross over voters had in getting Hillary to win. I'm not questioning her win, I just want accurate data.

37. Those statistics assume...
that the Republicans would be willingly divulging that they were voting in the oppositions election, and if they had alterior motives, it's highly unlikely they would admit they were Republicans.

5. Be careful what you wish for.
How about all the states where Obama got a big boost from crossover votes? How about Wisconsin, where 9% of the vote were Republicans, and they went 70/30 for Obama. Or Virginia, where Republicans were 7% of the vote, and Obama won 72/23.

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/epolls/#VADEM

In fact, in TX, Obama WON the Republican vote, 52/47. So if Limbaugh did anything at all, it made the crossover vote negligible. As it should be.

12. thanks for the great link.
Some of the data that is fascinating to me...

The "Most Qualified to be Commander in Chief" questions results are very interesting. Obama held a huge margin there, and that seems like one of the more important questions which could influence voter perception and their ultimate vote.

You have to scroll over several pages to the right to get the "vote by party ID" results. You can also change VA in the URL to whatever state you want. The info is very interesting.

30. did you just call me an asshole?
there is no way to determine the intent of their votes, but two things are clear:

1) obama has brought millions of new voters into our party, including many former independents and republicans who are inspired by his brand of politics
2) rush limbaugh encouraged his listeners (specifically the ones in texas) to vote for hillary solely as an attempt to weaken obama so that john mccain has a better shot to win in november.

one of these groups is voting and supporting a democrat.

one of these groups is voting for a democrat but supporting a republican. and yes, it would be quite interesting to know just how many repubs crossed party lines to fuck with our election on rush's behalf. i bet he has a huge audience in texas, although honestly i have no idea whether tens of thousands or just ten people carried out his orders.

Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 02:55 AM by CalGator
YES, MOST OF THE REPUGS VOTING FOR BILLARY ARE VOTING FOR HER TO LOSE IN NOVEMBER. There is no friggin' way in hades that 47% of Republicans who vote in a Democratic primary are voting for the sworn enemy of the RNC. Congrats on permitting the hijacking the momentum for the democratic nomination so that you can say hello to President John W McCain.

48. You are assuming that huge numbers of republicans didn't vote Obama because he might get defeated.
Point 1 is not clear at all; no one knows how many republicans he actually brought in that would vote for him in the GE. It certainly isn't "millions," and it might even be negligable. Independents, yes. But republicans? Probably not.
