As of 1:20 am, the delegate count from the Texas primary is 63 Hillary, 62 Obama with Obama likely
to more than make up that 1 delegate deficit by winning the caucus.

Obama will likely come out of Texas having most of the Texas delegates.

8. Obama crushed in the cities. Landslides.
Since I live in Cincinnati and we went 61-38 for Obama, I really have no earthly idea who voted for Hillary.

The VolcanoJen Ohio Update: I live in a weird, whacky state. But we did our part tonight. The rest, I have no control over.

And my county went for Obama in a landslide. I don't know what else I could've done in the rest of Ohio, but damn, I wish I'd have figured it out.

Because as dog-tired as I am, I'd have given more.

VOTING SUCKED 4 ME TODAY IN OHIO
I voted by paper ballot here in Cols, 43205. The "ballot" box was handmade with a slit put in to a bottom of a regular type cardboard box.

It had NO SEAL on it what so ever.

I asked about it and the lead worker told me, "Well we were in a rush". He ended up putting a twisty tie like thing on the box and said "ok its sealed". Outrageous. I called the Sec St, and Franklin County B of E and reported it. They took my name and contact info and was told by both entities that they would call me back.

Guess what neither did.

The employees were clueless, untrained, except for one guy who had to help the rest out with every single step. There was no privacy for the people using the machines, the room, in the Columbus "Douglas" school was cramped, loud and just a mess.

I for one am pissed off!

Obama won Columbus by about 10 and Cleveland by only 5 so far. The only place Obama did really well was in Cincinnati.

26. Obama won Dayton by 11 points.
Dayton is not a minor city in Ohio. And he's winning Columbus by 13 points with 91% of the vote reporting. He's up by 5 in Cleveland, but for a myriad of reasons, only 44% of Cuyahoga is reporting.

The only place Obama did well was in Cincinnati? How do you define "well"? Suddenly, cities don't count, either?

If you really want to go toe-to-toe on intricate Ohio precinct knowledge with me, let's tackle that in PM. I'm confident I can hold my own.

31. No need to hold your experience in Ohio electoral math over my head.
I said "really well". And that is still true. Sure he won those cities, but only Cincinnati came in overwhelmingly for him. That is all I said.

Hillary will likely net close to zero delegates on the night.

23. MY SPECULATION: Obama +179 delegates, Clinton +189 delegates
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 02:54 AM by nomorewhopper
fun to speculate and I really have no clue, so I'll just try to proportionally assign the delegates based on the current count in the states per the NYTimes.com front page.

from tonight's action, I'd estimate:

Obama picks up 179 delegates
Clinton picks up 189 delegates

1) Texas - 193 delegates
a) Primary (65% of state delegates are assigned via the primary)
HRC - 63
BO - 62

edited to add that i got these numbers from the actual TX secretary of state website

b) Caucus (35% of the state delegates are assigned via the caucus)
assuming the BO55-HRC45 split
HRC - 30
BO - 38

2) Ohio - 141 delegates
assuming the BO43-HRC55 split
HRC - 78
BO - 61

3) Rhode Island - 21 delegates
assuming the BO40-HRC58 split
HRC - 12
BO - 9

4) Vermont - 15 delegates
assuming the BO60-HRC38 split
HRC - 6
BO - 9

14. With just over a third of the Texas caucus reporting, Obama leads 55% to 45%.
Source for caucus updates: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/state/#TX

Roughly two-thirds of the Texas delegates are awarded through the primary, and about a third are awarded through the caucus.

17. Those "caucus" delegates won't be awarded
until May. The convention part of the Texas systems is made up of several ascending tiers, of which only the first phase occurred tonight.

being able to count the Texas convention delegates assigned to each candidate and assess how many primary delegates correspond to that same number of Texas convention delegates.

By the morning news shows, it will already be apparent who won more Texas delegates. Hillary will win the Texas primary -- which warrants congratulations -- but I presume that her goal was to win the most Texas delegates, and it looks as if she will lose the Texas caucus and, as a result, she will fail to achieve her ultimate goal of winning more delegates than Obama in Texas.
