Time for Barack to play Hardball...
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 09:30 AM by Windy
No more Mister Nice Guy. Either he has to go after her directly with all the dirt that is out there that the repubs are going to use or his surrogates do.

1. But this negates
the kind of campaign he says he wants to run.

3. Look, if he does go after her, he will loose. We learned that with Kerry.
Do you think she will stop? Hell no.

There is so much out there that he can use against her. He needs to do it. As Hillary says, the repubs will throw it out there, so lets just see how vetted she is!

2. Could you give a brief summary about the case?
I don't know about other folks, but I don't have time to go through all the rulings to figure it out. It looks like someone was charging the Clintons with Fraud. But that's all I can tell.

14. Paul was a scammer who tried to blackmail the Clintons.
Wikipedia has a better description: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_F._Paul

He tried to throw the kitchen sink at them. The case was laughed out of court at least a couple times, and Paul is hiding behind allegations that the Clintons have organized a conspiracy to oppress him.

The decade-long debris trail of his crimes, of course, don't matter.

6. He MUST fight or he will be swiftboated like Kerry.
And frankly, he will prove her supporters right--that when the going gets tough, he can't take it.

He does not have to lower himself to her level. But he must respond forcefully and powerfully.

7. He played hardball with the race issue
He managed to portray the Clinton campaign as racist, which served him well. He needs to continue with that sort of tough strategy because the Clinton campaign has demonstrated they can be just as nasty.

12. The Paul case? You've got to be joking. The case was laughed out of court.
Three days of bad news for your Golden Boy, and you're trying to get us to believe some crook's attempt to work the Clintons for money and protection?

You really ARE desperate, aren't you?

This one is too pathetic for a Mr. Rofl icon.

13. Really? its still pending. There has been no dismissal. You may want to read the case file.
And what about HSU?

I'll get back to you with more. There is SO much out there just with a little google.

16. There have been a number of dismissals.
Paul is struggling to stay out of prison by claiming that the big bad Clintons are oppressing him.

"The" case file is one of about a dozen. Add "Stan Lee" to the search terms. (Yes, Paul was the guy who forced Stan Lee into bankruptcy.)

Happy Googling.

Hillary Campaign Finance Director Indicted
Rosen charged with fudging numbers for 2000 Hollywood fundraiser

JANUARY 7--The finance director for Hillary Clinton's 2000 U.S. Senate campaign was indicted today on federal charges of filing bogus financial reports with the Federal Election Commission. According to the below indictment, David Rosen reported the false numbers in connection with a "Hollywood tribute" honoring Clinton. Investigators allege that a "wealthy individual" paid more than $1.1 million to underwrite the Clinton gala and that those payments were delivered through "several corporate entities controlled by him." While that whopping sum should have been reported to the FEC as an "in-kind contribution," prosecutors charge that Rosen covered up the real source of the money, and even caused the creation of a fictitious $200,000 invoice to aid his scheme. The August 2000 fundraiser was billed as a "Hollywood Tribute to William Jefferson Clinton," though the funds raised went to his wife's campaign kitty. The bash was held as the Brentwood estate of radio mogul Ken Roberts. While the so-called wealthy individual (referred to only as "C-1") is not named, he is clearly Peter Paul, an Internet entrepreneur who helped organize the bash. Clinton is not mentioned by name in the indictment, instead referred to only as "Senator A." The fundraiser was largely orchestrated by Aaron Tonken, a notorious L.A. con man who last August was sentenced to five years in prison following a guilty plea to a pair of fraud counts. The 39-year-old Tonken, who made his living defrauding donors and underwriters of charity events, now resides in the federal lockup in Taft, California, where he is scheduled to remain until April 2009. 24. It's one of at least several
Paul and his co-conspirators have been involved in a long and tangled web of crime. It is very likely that they got involved with the Clintons strictly for cover, especially since Paul & Co. were so quick to involve them.

Obama's involvement in the Rezko matter is at least straightforward. (I also believe ideas of his complicity are without merit, but a poor performance by BHO could seriously hurt him.)

Certain people just do Google searches and assume that everything that comes up is prima facie proof of a crime. That's how the war against the Clintons has been waged. There may be many issues on which to take Hillary to task, but this kind of thing is ... Claymanesque.

18. I'm not sure about that Windy.
He needs to act presidential and maybe let his surrogates loose on some issues. He needs to adapt to the underdog role and not try to play prevent defense. He will need to continue to tie Hillary to McCain and Bush. He will need to rebound from this setback if he is to win.

It is important to put Hillary's position into perspective. If she had lost TX and/or OH, there would probably have been calls for her to step aside. It was do or die for her. In her desperation, she decided to go negative. I think she will tone it down a bit after her victories last night?

Obama needs to continue pointing out the differences between he and Clinton. There may be some buyer's remorse left over from last night? Maybe?

19. McClainton sent thousands of young American men and women to die in the sands of Iraq.
And she did it because she thought it was the popular thing to do. Their blood is on her hands.

How's that for "no more, Mr. Nice Guy"?
