I read in various books that rewarding bad behavior results in more bad behavior.

It is not negative to demand HRC's tax returns adn even less so to demand that they say who the multi million dollar foundation funders were. Not to mention - ask both to follow Kerry's precedent in releasing all the meetings they had with lobbyists since they joined Congress. Kerry did this voluntarily to demonstrate his faith in his claim that he could defend all of them. In his case, he gave information for 15 years.

The term is way overused here.

Swiftboating is just making something up that goes directly to the perceived strength of your opponent. Kerry was running as a decorated vet, and the swiftboats called that very attribute into question.

The closest thing to real swiftboating we've seen this year is the attempt to portray the clintons as racists.
