DEAR CHAIRMAN DEAN-MEAN SPIRITED ROVIAN TACTICS + LIES ARE HURTING THE PARTY:
Dear Chairman Dean:

I am sickened by the rovian tactics and lies being used to propel one Democratic candidate over another. The fact that they were introduced just prior to an important primary is very disturbing as it leaves little time for FACTS to come out. This is not healthy for the party, in fact it is highly destructive. The use of these smears shines a negative light on the entire party not only at home but abroad. It is time for Democratic Party leaders to demand an end to these tactics before any chance of a Democratic presidential victory is ruined for both.

I remain a Democrat as long as our party represents the truth and embraces diversity. Should these despicable tactics continue, I will be forced toward a party that does. I hope our Democratic leadership will take the high moral ground and put an immediate end to these tactics.

Here are examples of some of the recent appalling tactics:

Hillary ad also widens Obama's face, making his nose more stereotypically African-American - and then they got caught lying about it

by John Aravosis (DC) · 3/05/2008 01:41:00 PM ET · Link

You'll recall that we wrote yesterday about how Hillary had blackened Barack Obama's face in a new campaign attack ad. Well, Markos found that that's not all they did. They also stretched the width of Obama's face, making his nose wider and more stereotypically African-American looking. Oh yeah, and then they lied about it, and got caught. More from Markos:

Canada says leak was "blatantly unfair" to Obama

Source: Reuters

OTTAWA (Reuters) - The leak of information about Barack Obama's position on the North American Free Trade Agreement was "blatantly unfair" to his campaign, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said on Wednesday.

Harper said the government was mounting an "internal security investigation" to find out who leaked the information, which suggested Obama's campaign had said not to pay too much attention to his protectionist rhetoric on NAFTA.

"This kind of leaking of information is completely unacceptable and in fact ... it may well be illegal," the prime minister told Parliament. It is not useful, it is not in the interests of the government of Canada, and the way the leak was executed, Mr. Speaker, was blatantly unfair to Sen. Obama and his campaign."

Obama's rival in the U.S. Democratic primaries, Hillary Clinton, had seized on the Canadian information to try to demonstrate that Obama could not be trusted on foreign affairs and that he said one thing in private and another in public. The issue arose when Obama and Clinton said in a debate last week they would threaten to pull out of NAFTA -- which joins the United States, Canada and Mexico as trading partners -- unless its environmental and labor standards are renegotiated.

5. He's been taking the high road.
But I think that's about to change. The Clintons shouldn't want to get into a "character" debate with Obama. But if that's where it's going, so be it. They will lose that debate.

Hillary’s Math Problem
Forget tonight. She could win 16 straight and still lose.
Mar 4, 2008 | Updated: 11:23 a.m. ET Mar 4, 2008

Hillary Clinton may be poised for a big night tonight, with wins in Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island. Clinton aides say this will be the beginning of her comeback against Barack Obama. There's only one problem with this analysis: they can't count.

I'm no good at math either, but with the help ofSlate’s Delegate Calculator I've scoped out the rest of the primaries, and even if you assume huge Hillary wins from here on out, the numbers don't look good for Clinton. In order to show how deep a hole she's in, I've given her the benefit of the doubt every week for the rest of the primaries.

So here we go: Let's assume Hillary beats expectations and wins Ohio tonight 55-45, Rhode Island 55-45, Texas, 53-47 and (this is highly improbable), ties in Vermont, 50-50.

right now, and yeah, he does have influence. I'd guess that Dean is getting piessed about the possibility of seeing all his hard work and party building, come crashing down.
