This is why no Clinton returns available
Clintons' Charity Not Listed On Senate Disclosure Forms

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and former president Bill Clinton have operated a family charity since 2001, but she failed to list it on annual Senate financial disclosure reports on five occasions.

The Ethics in Government Act requires members of Congress to disclose positions they hold with any outside entity, including nonprofit foundations. Hillary Clinton has served her family foundation as treasurer and secretary since it was established in December 2001, but none of her ethics reports since then have disclosed that fact.

The foundation has enabled the Clintons to write off more than $5 million from their taxable personal income since 2001, while dispensing $1.25 million in charitable contributions over that period.

1. What's up with them financially?
I don't understand why this keeps on happening with them.

2. I love creative editing by Obama "supporters"
You left out this portion.

Clinton's spokesman said her failure to report the existence of the family foundation and the senator's position as an officer was an oversight. Her office immediately amended her Senate ethics reports to add that information late yesterday after receiving inquiries from The Washington Post.

"The details of the Clintons' charitable family foundation and Senator Clinton's role in it have always been publicly available, but, in an oversight that leaders of both parties have made, it was inadvertently omitted from her Senate filing, which has been corrected," Hillary Clinton's press secretary, Philippe Reines, said yesterday.

I wonder why you would leave out such information....:eyes:

Anyone could forget to list a $5 million charity they administered on an ethics disclosure. I mean, it's practically nothing.

21. Everything with them when caught is an oversight
I still do not understand why we let them get away with taking the FBI files? That was horrible. How much dirt did they get to use on people and the super delegates from that? Is there some way to see a list of the fbi files they took and see if any of the names are super delegates.

22. Great - she just forgot about it 5 years in a row
Now that's the sort of attention to detail you want from a President - 'forgetting' to file about a charity you run that's youve used to write off $5 million for 5 years. Thanks for the extra info!

2006 Tax returns is what we would like to see. Those were due with all extensions on October 15, 2007. We are now in March of 2008. The only thing due on 4/15/08 is the 2007 tax returns.....and no one is asking for those. :eyes:

19. I honestly don't care about tax returns...
I have other criteria...what I consider to be more important...than someone's tax returns.

Besides, that's what they said on the news tonight. Just passing along.

Everyone's so funny when they think they have to trash candidates in order to feel better about themselves and their own candidate.

29. Well, a candidate's work during public office matters a lot to me...
unless she's blatantly skipping out on paying taxes, which I doubt, I could care less. I could care less about Obama's tax returns as well. I highly doubt either one of them are doing anything illegitimate as far as tax returns go...especially since both are in public office and under public scrutiny. More so even now when both are running for president.

If you choose to waste your time worrying about tax returns when there are far more important issues that should be at the top of the list...then that's your choice. Waste of time, though, if you ask me.

Tax Returns, where are you? That would make a great AD right around tax season.

Recall how she hesitated when that reporter asked the question- I knew then that something was fishy.

20. this is Hillary's only hope... that People ignore the facts and just vote for her
Because she is a woman
or because she is white
etc.

She doesn't care if the Public makes decisions based on the truth. She just wants results that benefit her.

She can't hide behind her cries of "I've been vetted" forever.

30. Don't you think if there was something illegal or unethical...
the repukes would have found it already? They hate her a lot more than most of the Hillary-haters here and will do whatever they can to take her out.

I don't think she's so damn stupid as to let something as simple as a tax return be what takes her down. She's an intelligent woman. She sure as hell would have made sure the repukes don't have a thing on her.

She has been vetted since Bill won the WH. Ask Ken Starr and the other repukes who tore into every aspect of her and Bill's life. Remember?

The Repukes, especially HW Bush, have been friendly with Bill since he left office.
They haven't been throwing dirt at him.
That doesn't mean there isn't any that has been dug up.

18. Maybe the question
lies in the Clinton's investments overseas, especially when Bill so championed free trade.

So yeah, a 5 million donation is a pretty fat donation, for two people that spent all their adult lives in public service.

Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 07:31 PM by Bigleaf
I don't see any mention of any personal tax returns, let alone the one for 2 years ago, 2006. (I see mention of the Foundations 2006 return will be ready later this year). Does that allow you to hold off on filing your personal taxes for over a year? I need a new accountant.

25. I am a total fool
and I have an accounting degree.

Here is the real reason her returns are so dang important:

The 2006 IRS 1040 form will would show just how much taxes the Clintons pay annually and whether they are paying at the standard rate or have used various deductions and shelters to lower their Federal tax bill....
defending the middle class, working for the poor and unhealthy while living off the rich folks' loopholes

26. The campaign is trying to be sneaky by saying they'll release THIS year's tax returns around April
15th, asking the interviewer, "Have YOU done YOUR taxes yet?" We're not talking about this year's return, but past returns. I'm sure Obama will "clarify" the point. :)
