Hillary was better off BEFORE Texas and Ohio.
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 07:48 PM by Blarch
Before Texas and Ohio she had the potential to win with the margins needed to continue....Today she doesn't.

She needed to win Texas and Ohio with large margins to close the delegate count, this didn't happen.

Today those delegates are accounted for, and the potential is lost.

The math hasn't changed...she should now drop out.

Yet, he all but erased her victory to the point that she got a single digit bump in the delegate count.

81. No, sorry. The EXPECTATION was that he'd finish her off in Texas.
If you do worse than expectation, you're a loser. Ask any market analyst.

This is the side effect of having the press get all mushy and adoring of you. They bury your opponent too fast...and when the voters say otherwise, it's a freaking resurrection.

Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 07:46 PM by JackORoses
Hillary may call it Momentum but it doesn't have any weight behind it.
No real power.

It's like comparing a Firefly to a Freight Train. Both move fast, but one dies on impact the other crushes anything in its way.

Hillary had 'wins' but they gained her nothing. Momentum without Mass.
When Obama wins he has been picking up Delegates. Momentum and Mass.

For example, Obama's +8 delegate win in DC netted him more Delegates than Hillary gained yesterday in contests with 370 delegates up for grabs.

Obama's win in little ol' DC gained him more ground than all Hillary's hoopla from yesterday.

49. this is correct
because tree is no way for either candidate to get enough delgates to clinch without supers, you look at other things. And they went head to head in two huge states, very different states, for two weeks, spending freely, campaigning like mad. She won them, both of them. Head to head, no Edwards to muck it up, she beats him when they are both all in. If you are a superdelegate, and you have to pick, where do you lean? To the guy who is ahead, marginally, on delegates, or the one who wins when they go head to head for all the marbles? He still has won only one of the top ten states in population, his home state. She has jersey, new York, California, Texas, Ohio. Even without counting Michigan and florida...

agree that it is not flattering. Does that make it sexist? I think not. I would not have included a picture like that if I was the original poster but just posting a picture of a tired looking Hillary does not make it sexist. Would it be chauvanistic to post a picture of * falling asleep? The answer is no.

The Syrian born Slumlord, Antoin Rezko, is a crook and Obama is tied to him.

75. First get rid of the picture
It takes away from any argument you may have.

If one only focuses on the raw counts, you are indeed correct. Clinton went into last night needing to win about 58% of the remaining pledged delegates in order to win at least half of the total pledged delegates. She comes out needing 64% of the now remaining pledged delegates to get half. So numerically, yes she is falling behind as far as the available delegates. But what this analysis misses is the change in the dynamics of the race. Most Clinton supporters are not going to claim this as a large win in terms of delegates or states, but as a turning point. Obama held a narrow lead after the 4 early states, won a tiny margin on supertuesday, and then racked up big leads for the rest of February. With two more favorable states before the 6 week break before Pennsylvania, Clinton needed to show movement to remain viable. And regardless of the delegates she netted, winning states and breaking the streak of losses as well as least starting to cut into Obama's lead stopped her losses. While she certainly could have done better, Clinton did what she needed to do and thus yesterday was a strong win.

Clinton will not have the benefit of being able to play to this scenario with Pennsylvania. With the rest of the schedule fairly favorable to Obama, and him holding a sizable lead, Clinton can not just show progress. Clinton must win decisively, and this time it must exceed the level she must maintain. This probably means she needs to win about a 2/3 margin in order to stay in the fight, although she could obviously come close to that and remain in the race. A 55-45 victory like she had in Ohio simply will not cut it.

84. Nonsense. Ohio is not essential
Review the 2000 race. Gore lost Ohio and could've won if any other state had gone his way.

just gives money to the corporations who market it, pollutes the landfills, takes resources away from nations that don't even have funds for potable water
