Hillary's public service on the Walmart union bashing board
http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=4218509

"Clinton Remained Silent As Wal-Mart Fought Unions
Tapes Reviewed by ABC News Show Clinton As a Loyal Company Woman

In six years as a member of the Wal-Mart board of directors, between 1986 and 1992, Hillary Clinton remained silent as the world's largest retailer waged a major campaign against labor unions seeking to represent store workers.
...
An ABC News analysis of the videotapes of at least four stockholder meetings where Clinton appeared shows she never once rose to defend the role of American labor unions.

The tapes, broadcast this morning on "Good Morning America," were provided to ABC News from the archives of Flagler Productions, a Lenexa, Kan., company hired by Wal-Mart to record its meetings and events.

A former board member told ABCNews.com that he had no recollection of Clinton defending unions during more than 20 board meetings held in private.

The tapes show Clinton in the role of a loyal company woman. "I'm always proud of Wal-Mart and what we do and the way we do it better than anybody else," she said at a June 1990 stockholders meeting."

3. Old stuff, debunked
Can't you guys come up with something recent or even relevant?

Can't you discuss issues rather than rehash old right wing talking points?

4. Was she or was she not on the Wal-Mart board?
I ask this question honestly. Seperating the myth from reality is a tall task for voters these days.

6. She was. And a Walmart stockholder according to this source.
"They would have dropped their forks if they had heard that Hillary served for six years on the board of the dreaded Wal-Mart, a union-busting behemoth.
...
So what the hell was she doing on the Wal-Mart board? According to press accounts at the time, she was a show horse at the company's annual meetings when founder Sam Walton bused in cheering throngs to celebrate his non-union empire, which is headquartered in Arkansas, one of the country's poorest states. According to published reports, she was placed in charge of the company's "green" program to protect the environment.

But nobody got greener than Sam Walton and his family. For several years in the '80s, he was judged the richest man in America by Forbes magazine; his fortune zoomed into the billions until he split it up among relatives. It's no surprise that Hillary is a strong supporter of free trade with China. Wal-Mart, despite its "Buy American" advertising campaign, is the single largest U.S. importer, and half of its imports come from China.
...
According to reports in the early '90s, before Bill and Hillary moved to D.C., neither was raking in the big bucks, but prominent in their income were her holdings of between $50,000 and $100,000 worth of Wal-Mart stock.
...
Meanwhile, Wal-Mart's first lady, who also benefited from Wal-Mart stock, solicits support from union workers.

Which makes her words to the elderly Teamsters last week especially poignant: "You can count on me to stand up for the right to collectively bargain!"

Right on, sister!"

13. Ohmygod you're right
I forgot all about that and had to google it:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/05/09/politics/main1600694.shtml
"Conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch will host a fundraiser for liberal New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, the Financial Times reports.

The mating ritual of the unlikely allies has been under way for months. Clinton set political tongues to wagging last month by attending a Washington party celebrating the 10th anniversary of Fox News, the cable news channel owned by Murdoch."

That's very disturbing.

5. How/where/when was it debunked?
Either back up your claim with information or accept the fact that your debunking claim is debunked.

9. Debunked huh? I guess ABC doctored the videos so that she appeared...
to be doing nothing for the union people. Just saying it was debunked doesn't make it true.

19. Debunked? That's rich.
This here is part of her 35 years of experience. Why would you want to debunk her experience? Are you suggesting she's padding her resume? Oh my, that doesn't sound good at all!

7. And where was this story before the working people of Ohio voted.
It's funny how all of these news stories are coming out today. Now that the media has a horse race, they don't mind showing us the truth. But two days ago, it was all about a fake Nafta story to discredit Obama.

11. Trust me this story came out years ago and was brought up 2 months ago
Because MO also was on a board that worked with Wal-Mart, so, that's old news. And, so you missed the MO and Hillary connection. :)

14. No MO was not on the WalMart Bd! Prove It! Apparently she
was on the bd and/or provided legal advice to a supplier to WalMart - hardly the same position and power as Hilary had - And did Hilary stand up for thousands of nearly enslaved WOMEN workers in Chinese swearshops - making Wal Mart products for pennies a day, little or no food, few or now bathroom breaks in deplorable conditions. I would dare her to make a public statement - NOW - that she totally rejects (not just denounce) the labor practices of WalMart in the United States and in the supplier factories in China and other countries! Come Hilary - be Brave - be the Leader you say you are, demonstate exactly how you have defened for 35 years the rights of families, women and children - Come on DO IT!

OF COURSE YOU WON'T - COWARD!

SHAME ON YOU HILARY RODHAM CLINTON!

21. Yes the facts about Hillary are sooooo boring while if Obama sneezes...
Hillary's campaign would imply it was due to cocaine use.

Hillary is the one who is so concerned about "vetting" candidates. She deserves "vetting" too.

20. Hillary shows her love of working people by sitting on the Walmart board
And she shows how she cares about children by supporting cluster bombs.

Some might find that contradictory...

and her and Bill's "business" associates. Its long past time this woman gets fully vetted. Just what shenanigans have they been involved in since the Whitewater investigation ended? The Kahzak Connection? Rich's wife? Buying vote's for HRC's Senate race? It's all out there for the looking...

26. I agree.
She hasn't been vetted at all. Despite what her supporters say, being able to withstand sexist and insulting slander does not translate into being "clean." It just means she can stand stupid shit. Now her corporate past is being revealed and it doesn't look pretty.
