I have to laugh every time I hear one of the "experts" on TV talk about how one or the other of the Democrat campaigners should gracefully bow out of the race, explaining that it would be terrible if it were taken all the way to the convention. I've tried hard to understand what the purpose of a political convention is if not to make such decisions. I hope they both go all the way.

1. It's the media hyping themselves. A convention is out of their control n/t

2. I think they WANT a messy convention. What ratings!
They also like the should X drop out - yes or no? stories.
It fits an easy pattern for them.

They want to squeeze all the $$$ out of these campaigns as possible, obviously.

On the upside, an exciting convention will keep people glued to the screen, and Repubs will look like a pan of cooling dishwater in comparison.
Mmmmm, cooling dishwater.

Correction: cooling fascist dishwater.

4. I agree. The more Obama speaks to crowds the more his name gets out. Right now he only has to
focus on one or a few states at a time. When he becomes the nominee he will still have to cover the rest of the states. And, there is no final measure of acceptance like a primary or caucus that can be used to judge performance.

There is no better way to campaign than what is going on right now.

6. Conventions are anachronistic dog and pony shows for TV only
Sure, once upon a time when we didn't have primaries or TV or polls conventions were important. But now they are just a stage show, a chance for candidates to be coronated, give a speech, have the balloons drop and show an awesome video of themselved doing good things for, who else, the PEOPLE.
