Mississippi will wipe out Clinton's gains on Tuesday: African-Americans account for 56% of the vote
Obama will get at least 66% of the vote. He should net 10 delegates, enough to wipe out Clinton's gains on Tuesday.

16. He broke 40% in Texas
Close to 45, I think. And that was on a pretty bad night.

It depends how the media narrative goes the next few days. I'd love to see him get 40% of the white vote, but that might be unrealistic.

There a decent amount of liberal in Texas, especially in Austin
Mississippi is the deep South. I exepct to see a racial split that is closer to 65-35 in the white vote and 90-10 in the black vote.

59. With 50-60% of Rural White D/I/Rs in Texas voting Clinton over the black man
Either because they hate Obama more than Clinton or feel she's easier to beat. These people (a) HATE HATE HATE Hillary and (b) are by and large even more racist than parts of the old south and (c) are scared by Hillary's 3 am phone call and a black man is trying to break into the White house ad. There was some skulduggery goin' on in rural Texas and rural parts of the South, just look at the rural-urban distribution in various states north vs. south (with Ohio following the Southern, "I like Obama and hate Hillary but he's a black muslim and we can't have that, and besides I'm a Dem, but I like McCain and want him to kick Hillary's ass in the fall" pattern.)

10. We will do everything within our power to see that she
does not win.

She has insulted and slimed our Barack one too many times.

It would be poetic justice to see her get set back by the very people that put her and kept her in the WH for 8 too long years.

Now my people are saying, "Fool us once but never again."

I will make calls from California and make sure my Brothers and Sisters come to the polls.

Harold Ickes put out a statement last month saying that we (black folks) would "come around" to Hillary if she wins the nomination.

These folks running Hillaryland are CLUELESS about the damaged they've caused.

From Roland Martins blog entry at Essence Magazine (for folks who don't know, it's a magazine for black women) -

Question of the Day:

If Obama leads Clinton among pledged delegates, but hasn't received the 2,025, and the superdelegates put Clinton over the top, will you support her in November?

snip.....

Harold Ickes is a no-holds-barred campaign official who will do anything for his candidate to win the Democratic nomination.

And if Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are close in delegates, he says he will push hard for superdelegates to choose the former First Lady, even if Obama is leading her in pledged delegates.

In a story by Roger Simon on Politico.com, Ickes is asked if such a plan of action will lead to a fractured Democratic Party, especially among African Americans, and he basically says, "No big deal."

“There will be some hurt feelings initially,” Ickes said. “But in a very tight election, Barack Obama will swing in behind Hillary Clinton and black people will vote for her and she will be able to bring in Hispanic voters also.”

Harold, you might think you know black people. But as someone who has a radio show targeting black folks in Chicago (WVON-AM); a blog on a black female website (Essence.com); a commentator for a black cable network (TV One); run three black newspapers (Houston Defender, Dallas Weekly, Chicago Defender); a black website (BlackAmericaWeb.com) been a news editor of a black national magazine (Savoy Magazine); and filed reports for a black radio network (American Urban Radio Networks), I know my people far better than you.

And I can guarantee you that if Sen. Obama is leading among pledged delegates, and the superdelegates throw the election to Sen. Clinton, she can bank on a loss in November.

Why? Her negatives are already at high levels, ranging between 42 and 44 percent. That means that she can ill-afford any slippage in any key demographic.

Clinton can't afford to lose even 3 to 5 percent of black voters, who are the base of the Democratic Party. If she loses that amount, she loses the election.

Black turnout is critical. A disenchanted black electorate could stay at home, thus having the same effect. I've even gotten calls from yellow dog Democrats, many who are still angry with Bill Clinton's references to Rev. Jesse Jackson when Obama won the South Carolina primary, who have said they will vote for McCain before they vote for her.

http://essence.typepad.com/news/2008/02/top-clinton-off.html

a few of the responses-

---------------------

In the words of Sophia in The Color Purple "heeeeeell no"! But, I don't think it will come to that. After March 4th it will be a wrap for her and hopefully she will throw in the towel.

However, if Clinton or anyone thinks that Black people are just going to fall in line they are seriously mistaken. There isn't a chance in hell that the corrupt McCain is getting my vote either though. I strongly believe that it is important to vote, but I will stay home if Obama is not at the top of the ticket!

---------------------

Vote for Hillary? Un-uh. Negative. Will not. Shall not. Not gonna happen.

I am disgusted with the Clinton political machine right about now. I will become a McCain-ocrat if she steals this election from Obama. Ooooh! I don't even want to think about the ulcers that anger would create.

---------------------

I had this conversation with my mother yesterday after the Clinton campaign released that photo of Obama. That was the last straw for me and if she wins, I will vote for Nader.

---------------------

Snowball's chance in hell that she would get our vote! Somehow she thinks that she's the herder and we are her cattle, she says jump we ask how high. I think not. She needs to check herself. We are going forth in a new direction and the country is making that loud and clear.

She's running on a platform of self pity and fear. The American people are tired of it and its time to move on.

With Obama.

---------------------

I will never vote for Hillary Clinton, time and time again, she and her camp have shown their true colors. She does not deserve the presidency or the black vote. Well, regardless of what others do she will not get this black woman's vote.

---------------------

The responses (about 100+) all equal to HELL NO.

I tend to hang out at more than a few AA political blogs and the consensus among the posters regarding Hillary's attacks on Obama are the same. It will not be forgotten.

105. Obama is not a "movie ticket"
Who are you to decide that he should be VP?

Is that like the back of the bus scenario?

She can ride at the front of the bus and he gets to ride in the back as her VP?

Let's play this fair ~ I invite all of you that support Hillary to tell her that her dirty tricks are a two way sword.

You would think that she would know that because we always thought that Billary loved us ~ now we see their true colors and we are hurt and disappointed by that ~ and we will not sit down and just not show her that WE ARE MAD AS HELL AND WE WILL NOT SUPPORT HER even if she/they apologize for her/their dirty deeds. And hell would freeze over if they did that ~ they are too too Power Hungry.

Why ~ because we will always remember Texas/Ohio/SC and what she did to get RACE into a campaign. What they did was worse than anything I recall when I worked for the Jesse Jackson campaign!

13. Hillary's campaign whines about open primaries, guess what--in 2004 indies and republicans were 63%
of the electorate. She complains when they make up 10-20% of a primary that it is so unfair to her.

She isn't favored by the broadest spectrum of working and middle class voters--she'll get no crossover votes, and she's alienated a large number of Dems and independents with her gutter tactics.

Hillary can't win without those people that you have such contempt for. And Obama's base is a lot broader and deeper than your characterization of it. Hill, oth, has real problems. Indies will run to McCain.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4753960#4754198

Yes, a lot of us older people ARE saying "get offa my political process" to you youngsters. But one reason, at least for me, is that in just about EVERY other facet of contemporary society, you young people (and your panderers/enablers in the entertainment/advertising industrial complex) rule EVERYTHING. You guys are the reason there's basically nothing to see at the local cineplex. You guys are the reason why women have a hard time buying clothes that aren't just way too small, way too childish and/or way too slutty for grown-ups. You guys rule everything BUT politics.

Please leave politics to us.

Guess I can add "racist" to your resume, too. :eyes:

23. In my view it will be around 60-70 percent.
Some bad stuff is coming back to hit Clinton hard and people are having time to see this before they vote.

It really does seem that Obama will win big as long as he remains strong.

Remember that after that it will be a WHOLE MONTH to the next run up to a day of voting. A month where McCain is free to do as much as he wants without any effective opposition.

It may be enough this time to make Clinton to be a lame duck. However, do not count on it! We must expose her and remain strong. A month will suddenly become very quick if we decide to let up on Clinton.

It could be non-blowout, and then the 'proportionality' effect helps her for a change, holding down Obama's possible margin.

Check back Tuesday night and we'll see.

78. Gets your facts straight
Mississippi doesn't count because it's a primary with too many black people.

Wyoming doesn't count because it's a caucus, and the line from the Hillary campaign is that caucuses are undemocratic and shouldn't count, unless she happened to win it. Then it definitely counts.

Stay home, vote for McCain even though the race is over, or vote for whom they perceive to be the easier candidate to beat in the GE? I'm guessing it'll be a combo of all three.

White - 60.9%. Black - 37.1%.

Female - 51.6%

Mississippi Democratic primary is open to all voters. That means Republicans could cross over and do what Rush Limbaugh tells them to do.
