3. The issue is that Obama lied. He initially lied and said there was no meeting,
then caught, had to say there was a meeting but they got it wrong. It would not have gotten traction had he been honest up front. The media caught him and he lost credibility on the issue. He lied.

4. No--he never sent an advisor to tell Canada anything about NAFTA--
he told the absolute truth, when the details were straightened out. HILLARY is the liar.

5. He probably didn't know the meeting had taken place
I think he handled the situation poorly, but I don't think he deliberately lied. What would be the point of that?

A casual conversation was taken out of context.

6. Hmm, how do these things happen, I wonder
Ian Brodie, Prime Minister Stephen Harper's chief of staff, has been accused of being the source of the CTV News report. Brodie also allegedly told CTV reporters that people from the Clinton camp told Canadians to take her NAFTA concerns with a grain of salt.

CTV News went to air with the information on Feb. 27, focusing on the Obama side of the story, and it caused an uproar in the United States. Clinton accused Obama of double-talk, while the Republican front-runner and now nominee, John McCain, said Obama wasn't a straight-talker.

Obama triple-teamed by Clinton, McCain and Canada.

Most people up here dig Obama. And at least CBC reported how slimy CTV has been.

17. Also
For some reason it wasn't in the print version. But in the CBC radio report this morning they mentioned they asked CTV news why only Obama was focussed on, but CTV sadi they won't comment on how they gather their news.

25. Well, that's part of the question
If there was a memo about one conversation, there may be one about another, but only the Obama memo was leaked. The CTV news report, based on a conversation that took place concerning two candidates and NAFTA, became something about only Obama and NAFTA.

Why was Clinton spared?

“Quite a few people heard it,” said one source in the room.

“He said someone from (Hillary) Clinton’s campaign is telling the embassy to take it with a grain of salt. . . That someone called us and told us not to worry.”

Government officials did not deny the conversation took place.

They said that Mr. Brodie sought to allay concerns about the impact of Mr. Obama and Ms. Clinton’s assertion that they would re-negotiate NAFTA if elected. But they did say that Mr. Brodie had no recollection of discussing any specific candidate — either Ms. Clinton or Mr. Obama.

CTV News President Robert Hurst said he would not discuss his journalists’ sources.

But others said the content of Mr. Brodie’s remarks was passed on to CTV’s Washington bureau and their White House correspondent set out the next day to pursue the story on Ms. Clinton’s apparent hypocrisy on the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Although CTV correspondent Tom Clark mentioned Ms. Clinton in passing, the focus of his story was on assurances from the Obama camp.

He went to air on Feb. 27 with a report that the Democratic front-runner had given advance notice to Canadian diplomats that he was about to engage in some anti-NAFTA rhetoric, but not to take it too seriously.

11. This is a test of how well Obama can fight back
If the Obama campaign still has its shit together, they ought to be pounding at this and forcing the MSM to give it coverage as it evolves, in the same the Clinton camp did.

Too late for Ohio, but Obama has to bring some reality to the illusion that Hillary is a populist friend of the working class.

28. Obama-Clark
If you think once this is over, if Obama is the nominee and he calls on General Clark to serve his country as VP, Clark will refuse his president, then you do not know Wes Clark as well as you seem to think you do.

18. None of this refutes the fact that Hillary DIDN'T write the memo and DIDN'T leak it to media
go beat up the media and Goolsbee for being so stupid. Clinton took information handed to the general public and put it in the daylight.
