Clinton camp targets Obama adviser saying neither candidate ready for 3 a.m. call

Hillary Clinton's and Barack Obama's campaigns continued to battle Thursday over national security credentials with Clinton attempting to pin a damaging "YouTube moment" on its opponent.

Clinton distributed a clip of Obama adviser Susan Rice arguing that neither candidate would be ready for the type of 3 a.m. phone call Clinton portrayed in a recent ad. A cable host asked when Obama had been in the position to handle a similar crisis.

"He hasn't. And he hasn't claimed that he's been in a position to have to answer the phone at three o'clock in the morning in a crisis situation," Rice said on MSNBC Wednesday night. "That's the difference between the two of them. Hillary Clinton hasn't had to answer the phone at three o'clock in the morning, and yet she attacked Barack Obama for not being ready. They're both not ready to have that phone call."

She went on to echo the Obama campaign's contention that he would exercise better judgement in a crisis than Clinton, who voted in favor of the resolution that authorized the war in Iraq.

1. It's the turth.
This idea that Clinton is "ready to lead on day 1" is a load of BS. She's never had a red phone moment. None of the 3 candidates have.

10. in the last debate she claimed Monica was her red phone moment. Remember?
toward the end of the debate and both were asked what crisis they had faced?

She referred to Monica.

17. Somehow a blowjob doesn't add up to a crisis for me
I'm not familiar with the remarks you've shared, but...

...it probably was a personal crisis for Hillary, but a national crisis is 3000 Americans snuffed out because 19 radical motherfuckers drove commercial airliners into buildings.

It's a matter of degrees.

2. Obama is honest. He's never been in that position. Neither has she, but she's a known liar.

3. Im really on the cusp of hating that woman so much I may become an Ind if she wins
I really dont want to switch party's, but I refuse to be a part of any party that would nominate a divisive Republican like candidate such as Hillary to be our candidate.

4. Funny that Hillary gave McCain the 3:00 A.M. commercial as a gift.
Funny in a sad, demented kind of way because as it turns out, she has no foreign policy experience either, the difference being Obama is honest and has never claimed to have it.

5. Obama should say"sure I'm ready, just as ready as Clinton"
"I'm cool under pressure and I have sound judgement that will guide me when that call comes", He should point out that he is just as ready, AND point out that Clinton offers no special experience at getting that call.

6. Susan Rice should not have said that Obama is not ready.
Even if it's true that neither has the Oval Office experience, this looks and sounds bad. They have an Obama senior advisor saying that he is not ready for Day 1. It doesn't help that she said both are not ready. The Clinton campaign will say...speak for yourself. Obama needs to tighten up his campaign soon or his campaign will be in danger of death from a 1000 pinpricks. His campaign is not winning the all important media wars. All the MSM mentions is Clinton's impressive victory in Texas, despite the fact that Obama received more delegates overall. It goes on and on.

8. I think she also mentioned McCain not being ready for the call either.
But, it's not mentioned in the story.

I do agree that the Obama campaign needs to use the media more effectively.

13. True but the problem is, she doesn't speak for Clinton or McCain.
She's a senior Obama spokesperson who said Obama is not ready. The more times I say that the angrier I get that she actually said that. She appears not to have the media experience to have realized how that would be used.

15. She's correct.
None of the three have that experience. It's dumb to argue your opponent doesn't have red phone experience, when you don't have it either.

11. Maybe you obamabots need to ask yourselves the following:
Where was Obama's big anti-war speech in 2003?
Where was Obama's big anti-war speech in 2004, at Kerry's convention?
Where was Obama's big anti-war speech in 2005?
Where was Obama's big anti-war speech in 2006?
Where was Obama's anti-war filibuster in 2007? Was stopping the war worth standing up, Barack?

Perhaps you are asking yourselves, "If he's got more than a 2002 speech - where is it?"

12. Truth hurts, Hill.
Being married to a former president does not qualify you to take that 3 am call.

14. What is there to attack!?!?!
I saw that interview on Hardball yesterday and I thought she said the exact truth. How the hell does this become a "youtube" moment?

I mean, the most Hillary can *possibly* have done would have been to pick up the phone, pass it over and say "It's for you."

16. She should have left it at
"neither has had to answer such phone calls, but I know that Barack Obama has the judgment and character to make the right decision when confronted with a crises"
