Clinton validates McCain as passing commander and chief threshold.
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 04:57 PM by debatepro
http://weblogs.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/blog/2008/03/clinton_ive_crossed_commanderi.html

And I think it’s imperative that each of us be able to demonstrate we can cross the commander-in-chief threshold,”...“I believe that I’ve done that. Certainly, Sen. McCain has done that and you’ll have to ask Sen. Obama with respect to his candidacy,” she said.

So you validate that McCain has crossed the threshold but only believe you have. So if that belief is in question you have only validated that McCain has passed the commander and chief smell test.

That she REALLY wants Bomb-Bomb (who has agreed he'll be a

Otherwise, why on earth would she be so deferential to McCane?
It's one thing to go after Obama, but WHY is she building up
her potential opponent in this way?

Her scortched earth policy is hurting our party. It is quite likely Obama will be our nominee. Not guaranteed, but likely. She has no business saying things that could be used against our nominee in the Fall by the republicans like this. This is the second time in a week for crying out loud!

32. Voted for the IWR, cluster bombs, and IRG I guess
She has no foreign policy experience OR platform...all her answers are elaborate variations on 'I don't know what I'd do.'

Yeah, she's made speeches in China and supported some Northern Irish groups. That's nice. But she's never negotiated anything. Every time she drags this out as her foreign policy experience I think 'great, more dog and pony show'. I feel sure that if she were in office we'd basically get bush44 because she would not want to be seen as wussy in response to any overseas threat so she'd overreact rather than lay herself open to criticism of being too soft.

Sorry for the rant. Foreign policy is a big deal to me (partly because I come from Europe originally) and I think she is so full of it.

cross this mysterious commander-in-chief threshold?

But during those two terms in the White House, Mrs. Clinton did not hold a security clearance. She did not attend National Security Council meetings. She was not given a copy of the president’s daily intelligence briefing. She did not assert herself on the crises in Somalia, Haiti and Rwanda.

And during one of President Bill Clinton’s major tests on terrorism, whether to bomb Afghanistan and Sudan in 1998, Mrs. Clinton was barely speaking to her husband, let alone advising him, as the Lewinsky scandal sizzled.

Senator McCain has 23 years military service + 25 years Washington experience.

I don't see how anyone can pretend that John McCain does not pass the threshold of experience required to be a credible candidate for Commander in Chief of the US Military.

66. This is repellent.
I try not to spout off about this or that loose remark being made by the candidate in opposition to mine, but this is beyond the pale.

Sure, I can understand that Sen. Clinton is trying to position herself towards a GE run against McCain, but it speaks very, very poorly of her campaign that the only way they can think of to do that is to praise McCain.

It also flags up a host of interesting questions, the most pertinent being whether she'll endorse McCain if she loses the nomination, because he apparently "passes the threshold". Christ.

68. Yes, I'm keeping track: neraly 70 responses, one lonely defender.
This is wild. Nobody, save one Clinton defender, wants to touch this.

I think we've reached a tipping point here.

She. Went. Too. Far. This. Time.

78. Simple. She is trying to sabotage Obama.
She knows she cannot win this time, so she wants McCain to win the GE so she can run again in 2012. It's all about her and her ambition, fuck the Democratic party, and fuck fixing the country from GWB's mess. Her narcissism is showing.

She's wrong on both counts. Flying an airplane and living in a prison camp 40 years ago as well as being a hardcore militarist do absolutely nothing to make someone qualified to be CinC. If she believes that she is qualified to be CinC then so is daughter Chelsea for living in the WH without a security clearance and observing some of the things that went on around the place. But then...so is the WH chef.

I think Eisenhower was the last President to have pre-qualifications to be CinC. McBush and McHillary are not in that league by a long shot.

She reminds me of Bush trying vainly to include himself in the pantheon of great war Presidents.

84. As much as I hesitate to mention it; if you think BO has more military experience...
than McCain...you're just fucking nutz. It's time to get your head right for the benefit of your candidate
