Obama supporters: have you called your superdelegates today?
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 06:10 PM by jgraz
I just got off the phone with Barbara Boxer's office, and I asked them why the Senator is still supporting Hillary Clinton. The staffer gave me some song-and-dance about how Boxer will support whoever won the popular vote in CA. So I asked her if the Senator was in favor of the current Clinton tactics, esp where the campaign is comparing Obama unfavorably to John McCain. Of course, I got no answer to that question.

Long story short, I asked the staffer to tell Senator Boxer that it was time to unify behind our presumptive nominee, and failing that she should at least contact Senator Clinton and ask her to abandon her current divisive campaign tactics.

The staffer also said that they are receiving quite a few calls from both camps regarding Boxer's superdelegate vote. It would probably be a good idea to call your representatives and ask them where their loyalties lie.

5. That's the exact post that inspired me to call.
But no matter what, we should be riding these superdelegates to do the right thing and unite behind our almost certain nominee.

2. You're not in favor of the Senator following the will of the people of her state?

3. I'm in favor of party leaders doing what's best
The landscape has changed since Feb 5. I doubt Hillary would carry California if the primary were held today.

6. You're a hypocrite. Either the supers follow their constituents or they don't.
And Obama doesn't make up 400,000 votes even in your world of wishful thinking a month later.

9. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means
Hypocrite? Have you ever seen me advocating that superdelegates follow the popular votes in their states? That's not what superdelegates are for. They were put in place after Chicago '68 to avoid exactly the kind of crap we're seeing right now.

Time for them to read the writing on the wall and bring this thing to a close.

8. Sure, Hillary's ~160 superdelegates were doing just that
before anyone had even voted. They're psychic, you see.

10. You see, we were talking about Boxer. If you don't like the superdelegate system complain to Dean
and stop complaining about Clinton.

4. Did you threaten to run someone against her next time her race is on,
like the BO campaign is doing to black supers who don't bow to his will?

Yup, Dollar Bill Bradley said that's what will happen on Jim Lehrer last night.

This story of threats is going to be huge. Nice new way to politic.

7. The next story is always going to be huge to you guys
What about the story of Clinton pumping up McCAin AGAIN today?

“I think that since we now know Sen. (John) McCain will be the nominee for the Republican Party, national security will be front and center in this election. We all know that. And I think it’s imperative that each of us be able to demonstrate we can cross the commander-in-chief threshold,” the New York senator told reporters crowded into an infant’s bedroom-sized hotel conference room in Washington.

“I believe that I’ve done that. Certainly, Sen. McCain has done that and you’ll have to ask Sen. Obama with respect to his candidacy,” she said.

12. Ask Kerry about McCain. If he doesn't lie for BO, he will agree with Hillary.
It's true and no amount of belly aching will change it.
