Clinton Campaign May Challenge TX Caucus Results
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 08:18 PM by NightOwwl
Texas in second day of counting caucus results

Election officials in Texas have resumed counting votes from Tuesday's caucuses after overwhelming turnout pushed the caucuses later than expected.

Clinton's campaign, meanwhile, says it may challenge the state's caucus results, citing what they call "hundreds of complaints" of mischief caused by the Obama campaign at caucus, The Associated Press reported.Clinton officials cite evidence that Obama supporters illegally obtained caucus packets in several precincts throughout the state.

Under caucus rules, whomever has the packet is placed in charge of the caucus. They also say Obama supporters locked Clinton voters out of several caucuses, the AP reported.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/03/05/texas.caucus.count/index.html

Sickened and disgusted doesn't begin to explain how I feel right now.

ETA: It's Clinton I'm disgusted with, not Obama.

Thought that needed clarification.

67. I hide from nothing. I am an Edwards supporter who switched to Hillary
after John suspended.I made my choice after careful analysis of the two remaining candidates. No one was more surprised than myself to fine me in Hillary's camp.If you read any earlier postings you will find I was not always very kind to Senator Clinton. She has her faults but unlike those who idolize Obama , I admit them. I suggest a real objective investigation of Obama's campaign tactics in Illinois would change a lot of opinions but I know most are even unwilling to ask the questions.Add to that the conduct of the Obama campaign in Iowa , SC, and Nevada as witnessed by the Edwards Campaign and you might figure out why many Edwards supporters aren't thrilled with BHO.

I remember seeing the thread.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=4842509

I spoke to my precinct election judge at 3:00 about getting the packet @ 7:15 (when I learned our precinct chair was not going to be there) not a minute sooner. She said that I could get the packet when everyone had finished voting in the primary.

After the primary was over she still refused to hand over the packet. I finally got it over 8:30.

I got someone from both campaigns to run the precinct convention, which was the fair thing to do, IMHO.

I think we mise well just fully expect Texas to be QUITE red in the election come November...

It is a simple fact that you do not mess with texas.

And Clinton... In case you have not noticed??? You did not win big in texas.... Even before the caucus results are in you lead with only what? 4-5 delegates?

Clinton are you willing to throw away Texas (And likely the entire ArkLaTex as the 3 together will feel quite alienated by this) come November Over 10 or so net delegates? Which will quickly be ruined as news of such alienation spreads to states down the line?

Yes.. Yes.. I know!! I am quite the fucking dumbass for going against my own wish that Clinton be politically destroyed for what she pulled before Ohio... Yet I just can't.. hold.. it.. BACK!! It is stupid!! It is making the job of exposing her TOO DAMN EASY!!!

46. She could ruin a lot more than her reputation here.
For the first time in many moons, Democrats are motivated to turn up to participate in the primary process. Absent some obvious tampering with results or other valid reasons for challenging the outcome, this really stands a chance of completely disenfranchising voters and turning them off to the process. Both candidates claim momentum in this race...the real momentum is with the voters who have made this a historic and record setting primary. Risking destroying that momentum with lawsuits is an absolutely sickening choice to make.

56. Well, that's in part due to how caucuses operate, it's a much bigger scale of disenfranchisement.
Caucuses are at a certain time and place. Captains can control the whole process and willy nilly kick people out that they don't want there: "where's your voter registration?" for one person and letting it slide for the other. I posted a video on DU about this exactly happening, a caucus captain was allowing people in without being registered, not even asking if they were registered.

Doors are locked at a certain time, and people who arrive late or who have to work or just who are tired can't make it. This is all very beneficial to Obama's group.
