If everybody feel so strong about getting FL ^ MI new primaries,
why don'w\t we raise the money to do it? I keep hearing about both Hillary & Obama getting $35 and 40 million in contributions a month. If that's true, and it will only cost $20 to $30 million to redo both primaries, why not just do it? I personally don't think those two states delegates will matter or make either candidate the winner, but enough with the whining. If you really thing it's that important, get the money together and do it!

1. Let Soros or Buffet or Gates write the check
Lots of mega rich people could write the check and not miss it. Is there any law against it, in the interest of democracy??

8. That's who should do it..wasn't it the dlc
toadies who caused the hubris of Michigan and Florida going a week early for the power plays? When they could have waited a week and they would have had lots of influence but noooooooo..they wanted to screw the DNC and Dean.

3. It's not merely the matter of paying
a primary is not a caucus. A primary is payed for by tax payers... not only that, but a new primary in Florida would, I believe, need special legislation to allow it. Then, even if an outside actor wanted to pay for it (hell, I'd chip in $25), I believe that there would need to be a method approved to allow it.

A caucus is a different matter. The party (DNC or state party) can have a caucus anytime it wants, and virtually anyone could pay for it.

The big problem is that Hillary (and her new found best friend - Crist) don't WANT a do over caucus. And they probably don't really want a do-over primary either. What they want is to seat the delegates that they have already (with Hillary winning, of course). Never mind the unfairness to the rest of the candidates. They are banking on Hillary supporters applying enough pressure to make this happen. Complaining that the Florida and Michigan voters will be "disenfranchised" by the DNC... Of course, the rules were set up and ALL candidates agreed to them before the start of the 2008 primary season. Even the penalties for not following the rules were laid out and agreed to before the start. Now, because she needs them, badly, she wants to change the rules. I hope that doesn't happen.

Hillary should have won more delegates in the rest of the primaries, just like any other candidate. She didn't.

7. You're right, but I didn't have a choice when the State I lived in
scheduld their primary late enough in the process that MY VOTE didn't matter either! The only reason this FL/MI situation is a issue this year is because there has not been a candidate chosen yet. But even if those two states delegates were counted, it still woudn't make either candidate the nominee! I say forget it for Fl & MI. The did know the conseqauences of their decison and they went with it anyway. Play out the primary process and let the super delegates vote as their districts voted, and get on with it!
