"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno.” - Hillary's New BFF
Edited on Fri Mar-07-08 12:03 AM by Magic Rat
Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno.”

– Sen. John McCain, speaking to a Republican dinner, June 1998.

"I think it's imperative that each of us be able to demonstrate we can cross the commander-in-chief threshold," the New York senator told reporters crowded into an infant's bedroom-sized hotel conference room in Washington.

"I believe that I've done that. Certainly, Sen. McCain has done that and you'll have to ask Sen. Obama with respect to his candidacy," she said.

Calling McCain, the presumptive GOP nominee a good friend and a "distinguished man with a great history of service to our country," Clinton said, "Both of us will be on that stage having crossed that threshold. That is a critical criterion for the next Democratic nominee to deal with."

- Sen. Hillary Clinton, speaking to reporters, March 2008.

---

Hey, what's a little insult to your daughter when you're trying to slime your fellow Democrat and scare voters away from him?

94. really? and what do you base that on?
Was it her adopting a deathly ill child in Bangladesh, without even talking to her husband first, the child that was used as a political smear in the 2000 election (the black baby) that 'inspires' you?

You really want to go there, and get more votes for McCain? Go for it.

http://www.dadmag.com/archive/060400jmccain.php

Dadmag: Your youngest daughter Bridget is adopted. Why did you decide to adopt Bridget?

McCain: Well it was primarily my wife's Cindy's idea. She was in Bangladesh and she and some of the medical personnel visited Mother Theresa's orphanage to try and help the children there. There were two little baby girls there. One had a heart problem the other a severe cleft palate. Cindy was very concerned about their ability to survive and their need for medical treatment, so she decided to bring them here for medical treatment. She fell in love with both of them. We decided to adopt Bridget. Two close friends of ours, adopted Mickey, the other child.

Dadmag: You knew about your wife's decision before hand?

McCain: (laughs) No. She arrived and said "Say hello to your new little daughter."

Dadmag: A bit of a shock?

McCain: Yes indeed.

Dadmag: And how has it worked out? Are you happy with the decision to adopt Bridget?

McCain: Oh yes! She has enriched our lives. She's a wonderful child, a complete part of our family and we love her.

Dadmag: Your other children accepted her well?

McCain: Oh yeah sure. She's the toughest of the four. The youngest always has to be the toughest.

Dadmag: During your campaign for the Republican Presidential nomination Bridget became something of an issue in South Carolina didn't she?

McCain: Yeah. There were some pretty vile and hurtful things said during the South Carolina primary. It's a really nasty side of politics. We tried to ignore it and I think we shielded her from it. It's just unfortunate that that sort of thing still exists As you know she's Bengali, and very dark skinned. A lot of phone calls were made by people who said we should be very ashamed about her, about the color of her skin. Thousands and thousands of calls from people to voters saying "You know the McCains have a black baby" I believe that there is a special place in hell for people like those.

84. this should tell folks that Hillary Clinton's praise is feint, a show.
It's good insulation from the inevitable sympathy for McCain which will surely come after some dolt tries to criticize him for his time in captivity.

As in, "John Mcain is my friend, but, he's wrong . . ." The shortsightedness and political naivety in here is astounding.

41. This is so beneath you obama folks....but I would like to ask you
and any other obama supporter about the comment made by HRC, "Hillary described herself and McCain as
stalwarts in the experience game and boiled down Obama’s credentials to "a speech in 2002".I see you all are getting hyperventilated about so I ask:

Where was Obama's big anti-war speech in 2003?

Where was Obama's big anti-war speech in 2004, at Kerry's convention?

Where was Obama's big anti-war speech in 2005?

Where was Obama's big anti-war speech in 2006?

Where was Obama's anti-war filibuster in 2007? Was stopping the war worth standing up, Barack?

Perhaps you ALL are asking, "If he's got more than a 2002 speech - where is it?"

Where was Obama's big anti-war speech on Tuesday?

Where was Obama's big anti-war speech on Wednesday?

It's Thursday now, and no speech?

Hm.

Maybe he's been running for a position that can stop the war, while running against a person who said that presidents, not congress, had war powers.

69. Did you not see her hate for her last week
Hillary attacked hedge funds and yet Chelsea is working in a hedge fund. They think people are stupid but 50% of us are not.

Test this out. You will never see Bill and Hillary kiss. I was told that and started watching. I was amazed the other night Hillary kissed Chelsea like any loving mother would do but then Bill step up and she would only touch cheeks. Amazing. They need to have the Gore's teach them how to kiss on tv. Hillary went to acting school a few weeks ago with that guy at Yale.

Maybe she will leave the primaries and join SNL

i wanted her to be disgusted with mccain, outraged, so she would vote, even for clinton.

lets remember.... bush and clintons friends. bill like a son. mccain took shit 2000. now huggin bush. seems like a couple years ago, my feel.... they made a deal (2004, kerry election, both mccain and hillary supposedly like kerry and he was fucked by both) seems to me at that time bush clinton mccain all made a deal for mccain and clinton in 2008.

i kept saying here lately, a couple years ago mccain and clinton race was decided....

geeeez... this is stinking up a storm

and the way hillary is so playing rove moves, every step of the way, so republican

35. very similar to mccain, i.e. birds of a feather. They insulted mccain's wife and family
said he was no hero, and didn't suffer in Viet Nam as a prisoner, and he had no problem supporting bush after that

why would hillary have any problem if they insulted her family?

Actually, what kind of self-respected person would still stay with a spouse who was a serial cheater? That in itself points to a major character flaw in her

"How do we beat the bitch"

McCain: "That remark is out of line maam, you shouldn't say that about anybody"

Oh wait, McCain didn't say that, he laughed about it and said "that's an excellent question".

Oh yah, and then he tries to be nice and says he respects anybody who wins the nomination of the "Democrat" party.

This is the man she goes out of her way to praise because she thinks it'll hurt Obama?

I have a hard time believing that story.
I think Hillary would have had Mccain publicly neutered if he said that.

65. I hate to break it to you
but you can see the video for yourself. No matter how much you don't want to believe it, Hillary is singing the praises of the filth that denigrated her daughter. By extension, she is filth herself. I say this as a parent who would NEVER let anyone get by with saying things like this about my kids. But I'm apparently not as craven as John McCain or Hillary Clinton.

67. I havent seen any video. But I do know that Hillary was absolutely
protective of Chelsea through out her childhood.
Oddly it was Saturday Night Live who made a Chelsea joke in the beginning of the Clinton reign.Hillary put her foot down hard and thereafter for 8 years there were no Chelsea jokes in the media.
Which is why I doubt the authenticity of the Mccain joke.
Hillary would have been all over it publicly.
Also I think the media would have made Mccain into a pariah.

70. see post 31
It's not an actual video. It's a still of McCain, with a laugh track, and his quote printed over his still picture.

So no, I cannot prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that McCain said this, but it is widely quoted, and I've never seen a denial. I have no reason not to believe it happened. Check the link; see what you think.

No one laughs that idiotically.Well maybe a group of Republicans.
Truthfully I couldnt hear anything but a bunch of laughing hyenas. I still dont believe it.
And BTW I admire Hillary for being protective.

73. that's cool
People keep telling me that Santa isn't real, but I get presents every Christmas. I admire Santa for bringing me stuff.

By the way, I don't believe that the laugh track is from the event where McCain slammed Chelsea. I believe that someone got a still photo, a laugh track from god-knows-where, and the text of the quote, blending them all together for effect (cheesy effect, yes, but effect nonetheless).

Clearly, you're going to believe whatever the hell you want to believe...the earth is flat, and Jesus rode to Sunday School on dinosaurs, and Sean Hannity and Rush must be right about global warming being a hoax because their answer feels right. And so on. In any case, should a bout of critical thinking sneak up on you, you'll note that none of the following Google hits seem to dispute that McCain made this quote. But it's good of you to defend him to the bitter end.

71. Funny how Obama's virtual worship of Ronald Reagan,
the man who began the RRRW takeover of our nation, is no problem whatsoever eyes of his supporters. Yet Hillary says a few words that are positive about McCain and you want her eviscerated and boiled in oil.

The double standard here is beyond belief.

74. You're having a hard time seeing the difference?
Obama trying to get Reagan Democrat votes (bear in mind, Reagan is what is known as a Dead Guy), as opposed to Hillary Clinton saying that the Republican opponent that either she or Obama will face in November is more qualified to be President than Obama is?

For the record, fuck Ronald Reagan. Furthermore, I wish Obama weren't pandering for those votes, but he is. This in no way compares to the treachery Ms. Clinton has engaged in.

77. I'm having a hard time dealing with people who make excuse after excuse for him
Why does it matter if Reagan is dead? His legacy lives on. The people who were harmed under him and the damage he's inflicted has far outlasted him. And his fans are far from the only people Obama has pandered to for votes. Obama has a habit of pandering to all the wrong people for votes (and throwing Democrats under the bus in the process). Each and every time his supporters are quick to rush to his defense. They don't seem to mind how many people get utterly screwed in the process. It's just politics, after all. Shit's gotta be done when you're trying to win an historic election.

But fucking woe if Hillary Clinton makes a tiny misstep. The vultures are on her like flies on shit. Even if she does nothing the conspiracy theories and accusations that are pulled out of thin air abound. Hillary can do no good, because Obama can do no wrong.

Just go ahead and coronate him already.

That's a neat trick.

Which hurts more: being thrown under a bus or being thrown on top of an IED.

Just wondering.

He told that joke in public, back when Chelsea was a kid. The press was there, and it got reported.

But now, Bill says that Hillary and McCain are "close".
