Bill Richardson: Time soon to call Democratic race

After Tuesday’s primary elections, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson said today, it will be time to assess whether the campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination should go on any longer.

The Republican nominee will be up and running, he said, there is too much time between Tuesday and the next big contest – the primary in Pennsylvania on Apr. 22 – and the contest in Ohio and Texas between Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama has grown too contentious for the party’s own good.

I’m just worried that the tone of this campaign has gotten excessively negative and it’s going to hurt us in November,’’ said Richardson, who abandoned his own bid for the nomination after fairing poorly in early primaries. He appeared on CBS News’ Face the Nation today with a new, finely trimmed beard and a sense of great ease.

Richardson warns that the TV ads which Clinton and Obama are tossing at each other “could be campaign fodder for the Republicans in the fall.’’

He did say he would endorse whoever was ahead after the March 4 priimary. The delegate count hasn't shifted as far as I can tell and Obama is about to pull further ahead after Wynoming and Mississippi cast their votes. How much did Hillary pay him to keep quiet a few weeks longer? That's politics I guess.

he's trying so hard to rake the egg off his face. His earlier comments alluding to Hillary dropping out were outrageous, and completely self-serving.

3. Who listens to him concerning this election

now that he is out of the race. I think he
may have jumped on a campaign's coat-tails a
little too quickly in going to Obama's side.
At this point, all he is doing is bucking for
a cabinet position. I say this knowing how close
he and the Clintons are and he still went to
Obama when it looked like Obama had it locked in.
Nothing wrong with that, just what politicians do.
If he had thought Clinton had it locked in, he
would have went to her side in support.
