And I say, lets forget FL and MI. I think it's an idea that only helps the GOP by further dividing us.
I hope the candidates see the wisdom in agreeing to play by the rules as they were set at the beginning of the contest, and whoever ends up with the most delegates at the time of the convention, gets to lead on the ticket. The runner-up is VP. That simple.
It's not as if the office of the Vice President isn't powerful. Thank Dick Cheney for that.
It's not as if the mess Bush is leaving behind isn't big enough to require two hotshots to bring it under control.
It's not as if a successful 8 years as VP wouldn't lead to another 8 successful years as President.
It's not as if they're too old to think about a 16-year run in the first place.
It wouldn't be a compromise, it would be strategic cooperation. Because the way that things look, half the democratic party (35M people) will be royally pissed off that their candidate didn't get the nomination when it was so close. So if the runner-up gets the VP spot, then the entire party is happy (enough) and a unified party can roll over McCain as if it were set up to happen just that way. Otherwise McCain might freaking win.
Thanks to the DU mods for such a fine product. This message board is the best I've seen in terms of quality programming, usability and of course, the fine people who make up the membership.
