7. Yeah, it is a bummer
I had heard really good things about her and was hoping Obama would be able to keep her on, but this was probably the right move. He has to send a message that personal attacks are not acceptable in his campaign.

14. It is a shame.
I wish the Obama campaign had simply asserted that she will have no role as a spokesperson for his campaign in the future but would instead be asked to provide private counsel to him on her area of expertise only. I underrstand why there were reprecussions for her comment, but I like Power and she has a lot that is valuable to offer.

30. I agree
Samantha Power is very smart, but she isn't good at dealing with the media. However, I think she could have played a great role behind the scenes, and just leave dealing with the media to the press secretary.

Hillary says that McCain is more qualified than Obama, but an Obama person has to step down for calling Hillary a monster?

70. Much too nicely.
The ease with which Clinton lies and manipulates frightens me about what kind of leader she'd be. A woman like that won't have any qualms about convincing the American people there are WMDs in Iran.

The democratic party better hope Obama gets the nomination because I won't vote for that other sorry excuse for a human being.

71. No. They stopped short of that
After the first two lame non apolgies by Shuster they rejected his insincere apologies and said a temporary suspension was inadaquate. This was in correspondence with the network. After that Shuster issued a straight forward apology (as opposed to "I'm sorry if any viewers misinterpretted my intent"). A real appology changed the dynamics. They then agreed to the debate at MSNBC without Shuster facing long term consequences.

It seems to me that she's not so tough. She can't take the heat so she has to fake outrage and eliminate the offender. Seriously, "monster" is one of the tamer things I've heard her called. Sure, it's not wise for a top advisor to say that but the woman apologized already but no... that's not good enough, is it? She certainly was right about that "ergh" feeling. It's getting harder for me, by the day, to want to vote for Hillary if she wins. NOT pleased about this. Not one bit.

Also not pleased about The Scotsman reporter who decided to print that anyway, knowing he held Power's career in his or her hands. Terrible.

Edited on Fri Mar-07-08 11:54 AM by jefferson_dem
?With deep regret, I am resigning from my role as an advisor the Obama campaign effective today. Last Monday, I made inexcusable remarks that are at marked variance from my oft-stated admiration for Senator Clinton and from the spirit, tenor, and purpose of the Obama campaign. And I extend my deepest apologies to Senator Clinton, Senator Obama, and the remarkable team I have worked with over these long 14 months.

46. Her comment was disgraceful
Where did she come up with such an idea? Clinton has run a fair and honest campaign. Just because the tide has turned and voters are no longer enchanted with Obama, there's no justification for making such hateful remarks against Clinton.

Her comments did far more damage to Obama's campaign than to Clinton's. If dishonors the Democratic Party by refusing to run on the issues and instead engaging in nasty personal attacks and name calling. That's not what the Democratic Party stands for and we've had enough of it from the GOP.

52. It's nothing worse than what you've been saying on DU.

63. Power aplogized, but Clinton said it wasn't enough.
Exactly how I feel about Clinton's huge pile of lies about Obama. We can expect her resignation when? Not to mention the fact that Samantha Power told no lie.

67. Excuse me but when exactly did Hillary Clinton get power over
Obama's campaign workers? Why doesn't she do some firing in her own campaign? Oh right, she doesn't have the ability to fire her "friends". Hmmm. Seems we have a current president who has the same defect.
