Are you happy now?

Your cult couldn't tolerate name-calling towards your charismatic leader.

So you howled. You shrieked. You cried and whimpered.

Now Samantha Powers has resigned.

She's unemployed, in an increasingly fucked up economy.

Hopefully, she'll have enough contacts and leads in her network to land on her feet, but you never know.

Is that what it comes down to? Destroying people's livelihoods?

It's people like you, who consider ruining people's lives to be "good sport" who are destroying this country.

You can go back to your moment of Schadenfreude now.

Oh, and I would have promoted her. Hillary Clinton IS a monster. The truth stings, doesn't it?

23. LOL - but I will miss her telling folks that Obama's out of Iraq was just campaign talk that he
would revisit after the election - which fits nicely with the economics adviser saying that Obama social program promises should not be a worry to CNBC's Kudlow since there'd be no impact on the budget as Obama did not intend/expect that they would pass.

Which all fit with a NAFTA meeting with Canada Obama saying I'll be lying about NAFTA - that was denied as ever taking place - until the memo surfaced and Obama was shown to be a liar - again.

PMO: Canadian officials only got briefing from Obama campaign - not Clinton

OTTAWA — Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton never gave Canada any secret assurances about the future of NAFTA such as those allegedly offered by Barack Obama's campaign, Prime Minister Stephen Harper's office said Friday.

With the NAFTA affair swirling over the U.S. election and Canadian officials skittish about saying anything else that might influence the race, it took the PMO two days to deliver the information.

After being asked whether Canadian officials asked for - or received - any briefings from a Clinton campaign representative outlining her plans on NAFTA, a spokeswoman for the prime minister offered a response Friday.

"The answer is no, they did not," said Harper spokeswoman Sandra Buckler. ...

84. Because it is a race for the Party's nomination,
not a popularity contest.

The party has the right to act in it's own best interest. Hence, why some states have a caucus or a closed primary and award the delegates proportionately based on the results.

It is also to keep the opposing party from influencing the picking of the nominee. Some states have open primaries, good for them.

Democrats choose to award delegates based on percentages and Republicans play it winner-take-all.

How would you feel if the Democrats did the winner-take-all route?

Yea, the system sucks and there is something bad or unfair to piss everyone off.

Save the popularity contest for when it counts, The General Election.

To date, Obama has 1 Texas delegate more than Clinton: 107 to 106.

Had it not been for Texas' totally fucked up combination primary/caucus system, Hillary would have picked up more delegates than Obama (based on the primary results, where she received 99,629 more votes than Obama).

Do you live in Texas? No? Leave our fucking primary/caucus system alone. There are benefits to a primary and benefits to a caucus. We get both. Our caucuses were awesome this year. Go to the Texas forum and read about a party that's fire up for real — not just a bunch of screaming babies.

And the caucus results aren't all in. Obama will win by more than one delegate.

(or at least what's left of it) so I have a right to speak out against Texas' undemocratic primary system. All caucuses do is reward the wealthiest candidates who can afford to put the most feet on the ground to twist voters' arms.

So screw you and screw Texas' fucked up primary/caucus system.

Wealthy candidates can afford put more people on the ground to organize voters and get them to the caucuses.

"All caucuses do is reward the wealthiest candidates who can afford to put the most feet on the ground to twist voters' arms."

No one twisted my arm to go to a caucus. No one. Obama's "find your caucus" site couldn't even figure out where I was supposed to go. I had to look it on on State of Texas sites and that was a chore.

So I went, as did thousands of others. And when I was there, we voted (how undemocratic!!!!) for who would get the delegates from the caucus. Then we voted (again! what a terrible affront to democracy) for who the delegates would be.

I guess we're still not as great as the "recall vote" state.

I have my reasons for not voting for Hillary but none of them revolve around what some dumbass staffer did this one time at band camp, just as my support for Obama is not based on the occasional Hillary staffer doing something stupid. Personally I don't the that either candidate's supporters who post OPs like this are doing much to "support" their candidate. Way to many people at DU have elevated their particular pony to diefic levels (just like we did with Pelosi). Their future holds much disappointment and gnashed teeth.

Monster money

You can always tell who's on offense in this campaign by who's playing the victim most aggressively in their fundraising emails -- a favored tactic for all political fundraisers.

Today, that would be Hillary. Terry McAuliffe emails supporters:

Dear ,

Just one day after Senator Obama promised to begin attacking Hillary, a senior Obama advisor has called her a "monster."

That's right -- a "monster."

At the same time, Senator Obama's aides have begun rehashing the old negative attacks of the 90's against Hillary.

This is not the politics of hope -- it's the usual attack style politics that we have seen time and time again.

And it must stop.

Only you can make that happen. A small contribution now -- even as little as $5 -- will show the Obama campaign that there is a price to this kind of attack politics.

Make a contribution to stop the Obama attacks.

Sorry, but you can say things in public that you can't say to the press. It was unprofessional, and Obama doesn't need a news cycle devoted to the story. Basic media communicaton 101 rule number one: there is no such thing as "off the record." Message discipline means you never say anything to a reporter that you don't expect to see in print. If she can't figure out that basic rule, the she should go ahead and stand aside.

It seems to me that if HRC supporters could admit that no one is perfect, and that like me, they all have said things that were regretted later and show some forgiveness it would be a virtue that would help to cut off some of their and HRC's sharp edges and make people see that by doing so they are all acting like mature, professional, and caring people.

57. She Said This:
Edited on Fri Mar-07-08 01:33 PM by Crisco
"We f***** up in Ohio," she admitted. "In Ohio, they are obsessed and Hillary is going to town on it, because she knows Ohio's the only place they can win.

"She is a monster, too – that is off the record – she is stooping to anything," Ms Power said, hastily trying to withdraw her remark.

"Interestingly, the people in her innermost circle seem to not mind her; I think they really love her."

But she added: "There is this middle circle – they are really on the warpath. But the truth is she has proved herself really willing to stoop."

In recent TV appearances Mrs Clinton had looked desperate and on the back foot.

Ms Power agreed, and said: "Here, it looks like desperation. I hope it looks like desperation there too.

"You just look at her and think: ergh. But if you are poor and she is telling you some story about how Obama is going to take your job away, maybe it will be more effective. The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive."

That's the from the original story, which Google has taken out of their cache, where it was just 15 minutes ago.

79. Penn repeated what shit?
Yesterday on Hardball, the post-debate spin room included the top strategists from the top 3 campaigns: Joe Trippi for Edwards, David Axelrod for Obama and Mark Penn for Clinton and was an absolute disaster for Clinton thanks to Penn who, in my view, made things worse for her as he tried, so I would have thought, to right the ship.

When Chris Matthews asked Penn if he thought the story about Bill Shaheen's remarks had legs, he said what I figured he'd say, and did a fine job, fairly standard for post-debate spin: accentuate the positive, get in the talking points, etc.

Mark Penn: I think this story's over, I think we made it very clear yesterday that we didn't condone it, we weren't a part of the story that he went on with and we absolutely apologized, the senator went on the tarmac and apologized personally because this is not part of this campaign. She has been running a year long positive campaign in which she's out there talking about ending the Iraq war and healthcare for all...

Matthews then asked if Penn considered the Clinton campaign's use of Obama's past indiscretions and a reference to what he said in kindergarten as the basis for attacks on Obama out of line. This is where Penn actually escalated the attack first advanced by Shaheen as opposed to quashing it.

Mark Penn: Well, I think we've made clear that the issue related to cocaine use is not something that the campaign was in any way raising and I think that's been made clear...

This is when Joe Trippi jumped in and called Penn out.

Joe Trippi: I think he just did it again. He just did it again. Unbelievable. This guy's been filibustering on this, he just said 'cocaine' again.

Mark Penn: I think you're saying 'cocaine.' I think you're saying it.

Joe Trippi: Look the person that won today was John Edwards, Why because he's speaking to the frustration of Americans about something that's going on, how greed's taken over Washington...he's talking about real stuff that's really affecting working people here in Iowa who are frustrated about their jobs while we listen to this garbage that's been going on for a couple of days now and I agree with David on that.

80. I think that this reflects well on Obama. He made a campaign promise.
He kept it.

Obama said that comments like that wouldn't be tolerated by his campaign staff, and he followed through. Quite a contrast with the current squatter in the White House, who promised to fire anyone involved in the Plame outing, then protected Rove and Cheney.

If Hillary thinks that this was a success for her, she's wrong. She just handed Obama an awesome victory. She dared him to live up to a campaign promise...and he did!

Unless you have a medical license... mentioning any kind of treatment like that could land you in BIG trouble. I have seen a teacher go through a legal process because she mentioned to a student's parents that the student needed some kind of treatment and they went for it.

Just a FYI for you. I strongly suggest you change that to "Chill Pill" and do not mention real world treatments in posts.

I'll support either of them in the general, but the shit-throwing from both sides has kept me from getting re-involved in the primary process. It's immature and frankly, ridiculous. 118. We stay above the fray
"Shrillary-bots". "Princess". "Destroying livelihoods". "Ruining people's lives". "Monster". "So you howled. You shrieked. You cried and whimpered."

No... we're NOTHING like Free Republic. We stay above the fray, above the everyday name-calling, and above all-- we refrain from both hyperbole and exaggeration.

We remain composed, civil, and dignified-- and the only times we don't is because "well... THEY did it first!" which was a wonderfully valid reason prior to age of enlightenment, but for some reason it simply doesn't sit very well anymore...

She deserved to lose her job. I would have fired her in a New York second!

Your righteous indignation is silly, but amusing.

134. I'm not a Clinton supporter at this point...but by calling people
"Shrillary-bots", aren't you on the same plane as the woman who lost her job?

There is far too much name calling all over the place, and by posting what you've posted, you've done nothing to calm the waters.

Just a thought.

Little elistist that she is.

She will never know what "unemployment" feels like. Not with that silver spoon in her mouth... and her hi-faluting Hah-vaad position.

Nope. The unemployed are the "poor" and gullible folk in Ohio. PA. MI. WVA...... the one's Mr. Obama will happily sell down the river to keep his repug friends happy.

158. Yes, Samantha had an emotional outburst, that she immediately regretted...
... and for which she resigned her association with the Obama campaign. It was not a systemic negative campaigning approach architected at the highest levels of the Obama campaign, as evidenced by the campaign's response.

The Clinton campaign's continued references to Powers' off-hand remark does, indeed, demonstrate further pushing of the "Hillary as victim" theme, invigorated by the SNL skit of exactly 2 weeks ago.

You say potahto, I say potayto. Let's call the whole thing stfu! ;)

to make some money. Using your logic, Hillary supporters did her a favor.

The truth stings, doesn't it?
