I think their call for resignation will backfire
Edited on Fri Mar-07-08 01:22 PM by cooolandrew
All the resignations story does is highlight just how underhand HRC is. It will from here on in make everyone question her motives. Which is excellent. Ms Power is a highly educated woman she wouldn't make such a judgement without some educated thought.

1. It's pretty disingenuous when you consider the number of times
Mark Penn alluded to Obama and cocaine on Tweety's show one time. Of course, that's back in the day they were still going through the kindergarten papers and rereading the book about Obama's teenage years.

6. I think what it will do is take this out of the news cycle much quicker.
And yes, when someone from her camp screws up, and you know they will, they should have the same courtesy of reacting quickly. The question is, will they.

8. Only after Olberman has disected the story, with his unique critique.

4. really?
I thought it highlighted what a knitwit Ms Power was and how poor her judgement is, not to mention how poor Obama's judgment is in having her as an adviser to his team. If his advisors are unable to talk to the press in a rational and reasoned manner rather than a peevish tirade akin to a highschool snitfit then they don't deserve a position of influence.

7. People are going to understand her sentiment exactly with the Olberman story last night.

This hurts HRC whatever way you cut it. Ms Power's books are flyhing off the shelves as we speak.

9. I thought it was a net positive for Obama:
She hoped to portray him as a liar and a hypocrite, but instead he presented himself as honorable. Given the context of her campaign, I thought the call for resignation seemed a little petty.

Maybe I'm too biased at this point to provide an accurate analysis... I'm curious to know what undecideds think.

10. After Clinton staffer fired for comment, Obama said he'd fire his people, too
Obama Reacts to Clinton Staffer Resignation-- ABC News, Dec. 14:

Bill Shaheen resigned as Clinton's New Hampshire co-chair after suggesting Republicans would attack Obama for the admission if he became the Democrats' nominee for president.

Clinton personally apologized to Obama on the tarmac of the Ronald Reagan Airport before they flew to Iowa for a debate.

"I take the Clinton campaign's word that they didn't know what this guy was doing and I understand all that, but the one thing I will say is, I told my staff that if I catch you guys doing any kind of stuff like this, you're fired. Period," the Illinois Democrat told syndicated radio morning show host Tom Joyner Friday.

12. Why should she have resigned?
This IS Monster Politics. The CLinton camp needs to expand their vocabulary and grow some thicker skin.

The word monster connotes something wrong/evil; e.g.: a monstrous being is: very morally objectionable.

15. Point taken.
Damn, it's too bad. I guess Power stuck her foot in her mouth. At least Obama ponied up to his promise.
