At least the Nightmare Ticket can be dismissed now
It seemed every third thread here a couple of days ago was endorsing a "unity" ticket. Or, announcing that the first candidate to propose one would be the winner. Or, flat out stating that it's an inevitability.

Bullshit. The concept is, to quote #42, a fairy tale.

The venom exchange between these two camps; their advisers and supporters both, fanned by the media, has poisoned the well. No amount of convention Kumbaya'ing can possibly undo the damage, particularly after adding in the soon to be arena fight over Florida and Michigan and the remaining super delegates.

It is incumbent (pun intended) upon the winning nominee to choose a VP running mate who will appeal to the widest cross section of voters possible in the general election. One who will balance his or her strengths and offset the weaknesses; with foreign policy background, for example.

Not simply to salve the wounded pride of the also-ran.

This may have actually been a good idea months ago, back before the the monsters and the Ken Starrs came out from under the bed. It is only deserving of a quick burial in the backyard now. Not in my backyard, though.

10. No, it is Hillary who spoke too soon.
She knows full well how the VP selection process works. Or she should, anyway. By tossing the idea to the media winds like this while her campaign is in full meltdown mode (and she knows this full well, too), she is only attempting one of two things: Short-cutting to the front of the line after Obama wins, or making potential primary voters believe she is the "unity" candidate, making it a "two-for-one" vote.

5. It Would be More of a Shotgun Wedding
Is there any other way to unify the party so we have some chance of beating McCain in November?

WE CANNOT POSSIBLY WIN IF WE ARE DIVIDED LIKE THIS!

6. Look At The Current Polls From FL. PN, And MI
You literally have half the supporters of one candidtae saying they won't vote for the other...

If that's true losing is a mathematical certainty...

9. OK, no way Obama picks the monster Zellary - that well's been poisoned, and
she'd only stab him in the back at first opportunity. But what about another woman? Let's say Sebelius? women voters will be happy to have a woman on the ticket, she's moderate enough she won't scare off cross-over voters, she'll help deliver the center of the country which has traditionally been a red zone, she'd be a hell of a campaigner, and she'd be loyal and not undermine him for her own ambition.
