Hillary = Monster?
Interesting how Obama quickly appoligized for this comment. The aide called Hillary a monster offline and in another country and thought she was off the record. Plus she is a unpaid advisor. Did Obama jump on this to get it in the papers? Many people think that of Hillary and why we see such vitriol towrads her.

Is Hillary a monster? mmmmmm. This might need to be discussed more.

18. I don't support her, but one bright side to her possibly obtaining the nomination is that ...
you, and others like you will have to either shut the fuck up, or leave and go try to turn some other forum into a bile-filled cesspool.

As her recent resignation demonstrates.

What she did was purely stupid.

25. I am beginning to wonder.
She is extremely intelligent and well-spoken. Maybe she did it intentionally, know it would cost her a position on the campaign. How many times have we heard the word "monster" today?

28. I think she was probably blindsided
She's extremely passionate about issues she's involved in, and the whole interview was part of her book tour (her newest book was released 2/14).

I don't think she anticipated a foreign reporter asking her about the US presidential campaign.

27. She is on her book tour, she's not a paid spokeswoman
The whole interview was predicated on her book release, and I'd imagine she was a bit blindsided by a foreign reporter asking her about a US election campaign.

It was probably a mistake for her to say it (which she immediately realized and tried to retract), but for you to call her a dumbass for it shows that you have no idea who she is or what you're talking about.

She's a brilliant, talented, remarkable liberal mind. Any Democratic administration would be lucky to have her serve.

30. I do hate to say this but in the soundbite world of MSM "Monster" could be the end for her
We'll see if it lasts through the weekend (my advise to Team Hillary is to let it go, let it die off) but if it does she is done.

A lot of this has not been fair-the rightwing "prepped the battle field" on her for years mainly as an attack on her husband and on feminism but also because they knew she was going to run.

The "Monster" line is something that sticks. It cements the established perception of her.

A shame, she has an incredible history but that might have been the accidental (off record) end of her national run.

We'll see.

33. Actually, when you read the definition of "monster," it's not off base.
#2 is "a threatening force," #5, "one that is highly successful." Now - about the Ken Starr remark.

Main Entry: 1mon·ster
Pronunciation: \ˈmän(t)-stər\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English monstre, from Anglo-French, from Latin monstrum omen, monster, from monēre to warn — more at mind
Date: 14th century
1 a: an animal or plant of abnormal form or structure b: one who deviates from normal or acceptable behavior or character
2: a threatening force
3 a: an animal of strange or terrifying shape b: one unusually large for its kind
4: something monstrous; especially : a person of unnatural or extreme ugliness, deformity, wickedness, or cruelty
5: one that is highly successful

36. Obama should have refused her resignation
He could have said something like, I know that she dislikes HRC, and probably meant that HRC is duplictitous at times and is skilled at press manipulation, because that's what she's told me. But she's a very talented adviser in her field of expertise and I do not want to lose her." I would have loved THAT response
