Enthusiasm Tilts Toward Obama in Pa...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080307/ap_on_el_pr/pennsylvania_voter_voices

By MICHAEL RUBINKAM, Associated Press Writer

...

But in random interviews last week with dozens of voters in swing districts across the state, much of the Democratic voter enthusiasm seemed to tilt toward Obama, not only because he is a fresh face, but because they believe he has the best shot at beating Republican nominee-in-waiting John McCain, whom they call old and out-of-touch.

...

But Obama, Ciesielski said, would be a uniter: "Obama seems like he would bring the world back together. We travel a lot and, man, everyone hates us because of the (Iraq) war."

9. Nobody said anything about a poll
The article and the OP is about voter "enthusiasm". The point is that Obama voters are excited, not that Obama leads in any poll. Are you pretending not to know the difference?

36. I'm from Texas so I know what goes on there
Obama had support from swing voters. This is everything. Even if flipping Texas blue is a pipe dream, Obama can make enough red states look purple that the Republicans will have to divert campaign resources into states they used to take for granted. The electoral logic of the Obama campaign is impossible to ignore.

32. I like your spin.
Sadly, Mrs Clinton also came back from being 8-10 points behind, depending on what polls you look at. Obama didn't take the punches as well as he needed to. Nothing's more viable than a cornered Clinton. We need to win the perceptions game as much as we need to win the delegate count. Obama's really going to be tested in the next four weeks; we can still lose this in Pennsylvania, no matter how well Mississippi goes.

Hillary was never 8-10 points behind Obama. One poll had him up 3-4 points a few days before she started smearing him. The delegate count is what wins it. PA won't give Hillary many more delegates despite her probable win.

8. Yup!
They also claimed Obama gaining ground was inevitable in Ohio and Texas and said the same thing would happen in Pennsylvania because he was rapidly closing until he choked on March 4. Now he trails by 15 in Pennsylvania. Obama's past gains were due to momentum. Guess what 0bamanation? 0bama no longer has momentum and he may no longer have the msm favoring him, although they are by no means now pro-Hill. He has not proven that he can win without the msm.

11. Slick Hilly sent Slick Willy today to get an endorsement
in Philly of the ward leaders. Obama sent a really young looking guy. They would not give an endorsement. Tells a lot and I believe he is going to win Penn.

Remember, since Monday, Obama is +12 in delegates to Hilly and she won 3 states and fall farther behind. Less states. She needs to drop out and join her buddy McCain.

That 'young looking guy'... is Congressman Patrick Murphy..
a decorated Iraqi war veteran, and MY democrataic congressman.
He was one of the first in PA to endorse Barak Obama,
and represents a change from the old style antics of
Billy and Hilly...

Why wouldn't the Philalphia city council
and Ward leaders give an endorsement with the
Clinton Emeritus present? Because they realize they
might be spitting in the wind, and cutting off their own
future when the new wind blows into town...

I stated before that Philadelphia was ripe for the picking;
no matter how Philly is painted as 'old style' dems, the
landscape is changing. With a varied and rich AFrican American
citizenry, many colleges and universities, and a growing base,
Obama shows folks a new beginning.

24. Probably but he does have time that he didn't have in Ohio
He will likely lose Indiana and North Carolina if he enters it losing the two big election days prior to May. Obama's lead in both states was due to momentum. In PA he lost about 11 points overnight when his momentum was broken. If the same happens in NC and IN they are dead heats now and a big win in PA would give her even more momentum. Obamites are channeling Giuliani supporters. Momentum matters.

and has a lot of colleges and university.

NC has a high percentage of African-Americans.

Demographics trumps momentum in this election.

Ohio and Texas proved that.

42. Just like Missouri?
No, OH and TX were close only because of momentum. Obama was actually leading Texas and close in Ohio until he choked during the final days of the campaign there.

NC's black percentage is closer to Tennessee's than South Carolina or Maryland's. Hill won TN. 0bama can't rely in 88% black support alone to carry him to victory in NC like he did in SC.

50. What Obama needs to do in PA
Okay... I'm from PA originally, but live in Maryland now. My parents (who are Hillary supporters that I disagree with) still live there.

IMHO, Obama needs to:

Get out into the "Alabama In-Between" sections of Pennsylvania. Yes, go to your rallies on college campuses in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia and get the luuuuv from them. But you also need to get out to the depressed mill towns, like Connellsville, Scranton, Uniontown, Johnstown, the Mon Valley, etc. The places where you're lucky if you have 25% unemployment. Listen to those folks. They all used to be union folks, but the unions and the Dems sold them out for the liberal yuppies (like me) that got the hell out.

Talk to the Senior Citizens - there's lots of them there. Almost as many as in Florida and Arizona. They're the ones that can't afford to move to Florida or Arizona, or don't want to. Talk about your grandfather in WWII, especially if you can do it in a VFW hall.

Have a "shot and a beer". Preferably an Iron City, or one of the Pittsburgh or Philly microbrews. Hey, it's no Goose Island, but suck it up. Eat at Primanti's in Pittsburgh, or whatever the best cheesesteak place is in Philly (I've heard competing stories). Eat the coleslaw and fries on the sandwich at Primanti's. Slop up the Cheez Whiz on the cheesesteak in (insert restaurant here) in Philly. Learn how to polka. Wear a Steeler hat in Pittsburgh, and an Eagles hat in Philly. Yes, Senator, I know that you're a fan of Da Bears. Deal with it. George Halas is not gonna come down and strike you dead if you wear anything besides a Bears cap.
