In my experience, the best person to be my understudy is someone who lacks experience to do the job.

I applaud Senator Clinton's judgment. One way to show she's "ready to lead on day one" is to offer the job of vice president to someone whom she insists isn't ready to handle a crisis.

1. In my experience, it is best to promote young leadership, leapfrogging them above their
less inspiring elder peers.

5. Oh what baloney!
In 1992, would you really have picked Bill Clinton over Paul Tsongas?
In 1976, would you have picked Jimmy Carter over Scoop Jackson?
In 1960, would you have picked John Kennedy over Lyndon Johnson?
In 1932, would you have picked Franklin Roosevelt over Cactus Jack Garner?

No, sorry, we need to stick with the tried and true, not venture off in some new direction with a bold vision for a brighter future and a so-called "message" about uniting the country. This is America, dammit!

8. Were you responding to me or the OP?
I was speaking of my experience, where I have promoted younger people that were better, made salary lines cross based on merit, etc.

10. I am the OP
Altho I do talk to myself sometimes.

I'll quit being sarcastic for a second and point out that the less experienced FDR was a better choice than Jack Garner. So I was agreeing with your post by making a slightly more lame-assed version of the experience argument Clinton's campaign is making.

Does that help?

7. Well obviously the variable is the three months campaign time he'll spend learning from her.
(sarcasm mode off)

You got to admit she's a hell of sparring partner. Obama will be a much better candidate in the fall for having gone through a tough primary fight with someone who really knows how to throw a punch.

12. Oh no doubt
The rethugs will be hard pressed to come up with something she won't, but their MO will be just to repeat everything, with the help of the media, until enough of the sheeple buy it.

14. I repeat what I've said elsewhere...
If Clinton's kid gloves halfsmear campaign is too much for you to deal with, you're a wienie. The only fair rap on Obama I've seen is that he really hasn't had a tough election up till now. He coasted into his Senate seat because the Republicans pitted him first against a sex pervert, then against a demonstrable lunatic.

I'm not saying he can't take it. I'm just saying he needs to start handing it back a little. And of course some of his more panicky supporters on this board keep on acting like he can't take it. I think that's BS. Obama has plenty of sand in him. He's started slugging away this week. I look forward to him kicking up a little more dust before the nomination is over with.

People want to be inspired by a young hopeful leader. But they need to see he can get balls nasty when needed.
