Fellow Obama supporters: Monster, Sybil, Queen Hillary...
Can we emulate the grace and decency of our candidate by refusing to use these derogatory terms for Senator Clinton? Likewise, can we stop using derogatory terms for the many, many fellow Democrats who support her?

Terms like these do our candidate no favors.

I was originally an Edwards supporter. I doubt I would have been able to give my wholehearted support to Obama if his supporters had been as insulting to me then as many of us are being to Clinton's supporters now.

I've never used those terms.

But I will call her a neocon.

As a Hillary supporter, I really admire you posting this. :hi:

10. And I admire
that you recognize that the nastiness coming from some of Obama's supporters doesn't reflect the candidate himself. :hi: back atcha. :) We've all got to come together pretty soon.

12. We will come together, but I sure do feel nervous sometimes about the
intensity of the rivalry. I'm not happy with some of the things Clinton supporters say here, either.

4. Thank you
I think it's supremely stupid to use childish names like that - on either side.

I've managed to get through this entire campaign so far never using such terms. Hell, I've never even started a negative thread about any of the candidates. I don't see why people feel the need to belittle or destroy a candidate just because s/he's not your first choice.

5. The childish names should never have started.
I think the mods should start enforcing 24 hour timeouts on name callers..
If people are going to act like children they should be treated as such.
This shit would end quick..I guarantee.

would take your advice also. Calling other Democrats names shouldn't be practiced here.

14. Thank you as well.
I didn't think it was my place to request that of Clinton's supporters. Get your own house in order, glass houses, and all that. :) But yes, I think supporters of either candidate are more likely to sway people without leaving irreparable rifts if we can avoid the personal insults.

9. I haven't been...
and won't; I don't think there's anything to be gained or any point to be made by resorting to childish schoolyard name-calling. For that matter, as much as I disagree with many Clinton supporters on this forum, I won't call them 'Hillbots', or 'Hill-shills', etc, as I've seen a lot of Obama supporters doing (but then there's as much name-calling from the other side, too--Clinton's supporters are equally guilty of this sort of thing).

28. That's very nice of you to say, Bucky!
Although I voted for Hillary, I refuse to say anything negative about Barack Obama for the following reasons:
1. I believe he will be our nominee- and I will gladly support him.
2. He is the most exciting and refreshing candidate in my lifetime.
3. He is smart and capable and will make a great president.
So why did I vote for Hillary? After careful review of the policies of the two candidates, I found that I agreed with Hillary's proposals more.
And maybe I'm cynical after living around D.C. so long- I am worried about the sneaky and self-righteous GOP machine and I think Hillary
has dealt with them long enough to figure out how to manipulate the system. I don't think Hillary is perfect, and I wince at some of the things she
says about Senator Obama (e.g., the "shame on you" tirade was poor form). I originally supported Joe Biden- he said stupid things sometimes,
but he was always positive and smart. I just don't want to see our Dems wallowing in the mud, and I'm worried we might lose. :scared:

20. You're not effecting any change in the big picture.
DU isn't the M$M!! You are flawed in your thinking.

If you really want to get that thought out there, go on National TV.

But if you think, somehow, DU is this huge base that you can change

their thinking and then effect the elections?

It isn't going to happen!! :P Get a clue!!

You need to get off the computer and take a walk down Main Street.

24. When, exactly, did I mention changing the big picture?
I vent because if I keep it in I'll throw a clot and since I won't be able to get healthcare until the end of Hillary's second term, that's not an option.

It does seem like the forum is better today: everyone still posting for their candidates but using less inflammatory language. Hope it's a trend, not just a Saturday morning thing.

I know some of the responses are painful even if you're trying not to be inflammatory. Tempers are pretty short these days, and it's hard not to be reactive.

Edited because the tone of my first response wasn't quite right.

29. # 5. And, yes, Senator Obama would never use those terms.
And, all we need to do is just allow Senator Clinton and her fellow DLC neoconsters write their own exit script from any relevance to the future of our Republic.

30. Let's do the Rodham rash!
The Rodman Rash,
Let's do the Rodham Rash,
The Rodham Rash.

hmm. Somehow monster works better. As for Queen Hillary, you are slightly mistaken. A woman marrying the King would be Queen only upon the death of the husband, and then only if there were no male progeny. So, unless Chelsea is male, she is Queen, not Princess. then again, Bill is still alive.

In that case what should we call her? In her starring role as Destroyer of the Democratic party?
McClinton seems to work.
BamBam for how she treats another democrat?
Billary is too dated, now that Bill has been gelded, leashed, and scripted.
