I'd like to thank Canada for screwing up our Democratic primary.
A leak, a retraction. Another leak, and now another retraction.

We've pretty much lost credibility on NAFTA as a party, and this was one of our strongest issues going into the General Election. I suppose Canada is benefiting from the treaty (and our low dollar) more than we are, but I don't know what kind of trading partners they'll have in their neighbors to the south under a McCain presidency.

1. Oh yes it is the gift that keeps on giving.
It looks like we can't believe a thing they say and should disregard all of it.

He's a creep and a prick of the highest order.

4. BS! Obama blew it...if he had come clean and admitted Goolsbee had
met, it would never have been an issue...then the memo came out, and he admitted they'd met, but the gist of the conversationw as wrong. Obama lied...he's the one to blame...can't you BOTS every take any repsonsibility????

6. I'll ignore the name-calling and ask you this...
what does that have to do with the Hillary leak and retraction?

ALL of this "breaking news" is originating from the PM's office. Obama's fuck-up just made it worse.

11. Well, the Hilary part came AFTER the primaries, so hwo did that affect
it? The original reports were on the CTV...not the prime minister's office...and the fact remains that if BO...when first asked about it...had come out and said they got it wrong, it was a simple meeting, it would have died a quick death..he denied it, then when confronted with the truth, he had to backtrack...that became the issue...and still is...he blew it, and you people jsut can't seem to realize he made a mistake and blame everyone else...the canadian press, now the canadian government. It's like that with Samantha Power...she blew it...but of course Hilary's to blame because she's so awful Samatha had no choice or it's the reporter's fault...even though Samantah knew it was an on-the-record interview.

way to elevate the discussion. I don't even care if you disagree, but the dismissive attitude because I have an Obama avatar...

21. Hey, read into it what you want if it helps you avoid discussing this...
..."you people"..honestly, a shortcut offends you? I see a pattern here...you are simply castigating me for language you find offensive to avoid the basic truth...Obama lied, got caught, and now you're trying every which way to blame anyone else to avoid admitting he blew it...

13. He blew it only in perception.
Hillary has not been forthcoming. She has voters believing she's running on changing NAFTA significantly through the projection on Obama she herself engaged in.

26. I don't think that that's what happened. Here's what I think happened:
Announcement: "major Obama official holds meeting with Canadian officials"

Obama: Alright, who had a meeting with Canada?

Everyone: Canada? I haven't met with Canada to go over policy.....

Obama: We haven't been meeting with Canada

Canada: Well, someone met with our counsel in Chicago...

Goolsbee: That's what they were talking about? I'm a major official? Oh shit! Uh, Senator Obama....

Obama: Oh shit! Well, let's take our medicine and get this out there.

What no one has noticed in all this is that when the actual memo was released, it confirmed everything that Obama's been saying on the stump. The labor and environmental provisions in NAFTA need to be renegotiated. AS I've said before, until someone locates a maquiladora in Ontario, I don't think Canada has anything to be concerned about.

5. Canada has a working group who are moving to "fix" Nafta.
A Parlieament Member from Canada was on Lou Dobbs explaining that
Nafta is causing Canada to lose their middle class. According to
this MP, Nafta has created the same problems there as here.

show that they would gladly appreciate Clinton OR Obama as president.

And this is even the case for conservative Canadians.

Don't blame all Canadians for the actions of a few people.
