Bush to Hillary Clinton: I'm Truman, You're Ike

I found some interesting gems about the much downplayed lovefest between Bush and Clinton. This confirms, at least in my mind, that HRC's eerie similarities to Bush are not just in my imagination.

Karl Rove may not think much of Hillary Rodham Clinton's chances of winning the White House, but it sounds like President Bush is less sanguine. At an off-the-record lunch a week ago, Bush expressed admiration for her tenacity in the campaign. And he left some in the room with the impression that he thinks she will win the election and has been thinking about how to turn over the country to her.

Bush: Hillary Clinton Will Be Democratic Nominee

Breaking his rule not to talk about presidential politics, Bush told Sammon, who writes for The Washington Examiner, that he thinks the New York senator will defeat Barack Obama in the Democratic presidential primaries, but will fall to the Republican nominee.

Bush quietly advising Hillary Clinton

Washington, D.C. (Map, News) - President Bush is quietly providing back-channel advice to Hillary Rodham Clinton, urging her to modulate her rhetoric so she can effectively prosecute the war in Iraq if elected president.

Bush: Hillary Clinton 'understands pressure'

President Bush, who has retreated to Camp David in the Maryland mountains for the Thanksgiving holiday, says Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York understands "pressure'' -- more so than any of the other candidates seeking his job.

"No question, there is no question that Sen. Clinton understands pressure better than any of the candidates, you know, in the race,'' Bush told ABC News' Charlie Gibson in an interview at Camp David that will air on this evening's World News.

"I do believe our candidate will beat her,'' Bush added, "if she happens to be the nominee.''

Bush Touts Hillary's Experience in White House, Senate

(2007-11-21) — President George Bush told ABC News anchor Charlie Gibson this week that Sen. Hillary Clinton’s White House and Senate experience make her the Democrat candidate best prepared to face the Republican presidential nominee in 2008.

“In the White House, First Lady Clinton worked side-by-side with Vice President Al Gore, who I defeated in 2000,” said Mr. Bush, “In the Senate, she served alongside John Kerry and John Edwards, who I defeated in 2004. No one else in the race has such broad-ranging experience with what it means to be a Democrat presidential candidate in the 21st century.”

Bill Clinton: Bush Dad Will Help President Hillary Repair America's Reputation...

Former President Bill Clinton said Monday that the first thing his wife Hillary will do when she reaches the White House is dispatch him and his predecessor, President George H.W. Bush, on an around-the-world mission to repair the damage done to America's reputation by the current president — Bush's son, George W. Bush.

"Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again," Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife's "number one priority" would be as president.
