We deserve more than 8 years of Hillarisms

A Hillarism isn't quite a Bushism--Hillary is a very articulate woman and knows how to put a

sentence together. Hillary knows how to use words in their correct context. However, a Hillarism

is a unique gift that Hillary has of not answering a question directly. She stretches the truth as

far as humanly possible. A Hillarism leads to more confusion, not less. Here are examples of

Hillarisms offered this week:

Q: Can you tell us what specific experience in handling a crisis that you can point to that would

make you better equipped to handle that White House phone at 3 a.m.?

CLINTON: Well, of course, I've got a lifetime of experience. Senator McCain has a lifetime of

experience. Senator Obama's whole campaign is about one speech he made in 2002. You know, I was

involved for fifteen years in, you know, foreign policy and security policy. you know, I helped to

bring peace to Northern Ireland. I negotiated open borders to let fleeing refugees into safety

from Kosovo. I've been standing up against, you know, the Chinese government over women's rights

and standing up for human rights in many different places. I've served on the Senate Armed

Services Committee. And I was the only senator of either party asked to be on an important task

force put together by the Pentagon under this administration to figure out what to do with our

military going forward.

Unfortunately, CNN was able to debunk each case of claimed experience:

Northern Ireland

Rep. Peter King, a Republican from New York, was also involved in the process. He recalls one

late-night meeting with former President Bill Clinton, Sen. Clinton and Sinn Fein leader Gerry

Adams. "There was a discussion of how the IRA would decommission its weapons. And I know that Sen.

Clinton was part of that meeting," King said.

Kosovo

Sources with knowledge of her visit say she discussed the refugees' plight with those leaders.

It's not clear how much she helped since CNN reported at the time that Macedonia reopened its

border to Kosovar refugees before Clinton's visit.

China

a former National Security Council official in the Clinton administration says Clinton didn't

attend NSC meetings. So while her experience is extensive, she rarely carried an official

portfolio.

But I digress...that is not the point of this post. In the same interview, Clinton goes on to say:

CLINTON: You know, so I have so much experience. I have the experience of traveling to more than 80 countries, representing the United States. You know, sitting down with presidents and prime ministers and kings and you know, having the chance to, you know, represent our country in some very difficult situations.

So has Laura Bush, and every other First Lady.

CLINTON: So, I am offering a lifetime of experience. And I think that's a stark contrast to my opponent's offer.

Notice the bait and switch again--just a few minutes ago she characterized her experience as spanning 15 years, now it's a "lifetime."

Q: All of those points are well taken. I was wondering if you could point to a specific crisis where you were the go-to person?

CLINTON: Well, you know, there isn't any way that anyone who has not been president, but you know

the administration sent me to war- torn zones. I was the first person from the Clinton

administration to go into Bosnia after the Dayton peace accords. You know, I went to Macedonia and

sat down with their government and negotiated opening up that border. There are a lot of examples.

But it's not just one thing. You know, Senator Obama's whole campaign is about a speech he gave in

2002 and, of course, by 2004 he had even backed away from his fervent anti-war sentiment and said

he wasn't sure how he would have voted and actually agreed with the way George Bush was conducting

the war. And by the time he got to the Senate, he voted exactly the same way I did.

So, if your entire campaign is about one speech and that's what you hold up as your credential to

be president against a lifetime of experience from John McCain and a lifetime of experience from

me, I think the voters can draw their own conclusion.

Sigh... By the time her interview ended, she had praised McCain's superior experience at least 3

times. Very sad... Now let's fast forward:

Q. Advisor stepped down for calling you a monster. React?

CLINTON: Well I think sen. Obama did the right thing, but I think it’s important to look at what

she and his other advisors say behind closed doors, particularly when they’re talking to foreign

governments and foreign press. It raises disturbing questions about what the real planning and

policy positions inside the Obama campaign happen to be.

Q. How is being called a monster any different than Obama camp being called ken starr?

CLINTON: You know, I am, you know, very focused on this campaign and you’ve made the comparison

between those two…

Q. You’re spokesman made that comparison.

CLINTON: I think one is an ad hominem attack and one is a historical reference.

Q. But he said that he did not see how anybody imitating Ken Starr would win the Democratic

nomination.

CLINTON: Well, I think that is a true statement.

Q. When Bob Johnson raised the issue of Sen. Obama’s drug use, you didn’t act quickly on that.

CLINTON: Well, we did repudiate it and he apologized.

Q. There was no repudiation immediately. Immediately, your campaign said he was talking about

community organizing. Then he came out and said he was actually referring to his drug use and no

one heard anything else from your campaign.

CLINTON: Well no, yes you did. You said he apologized and we accepted his apology.

Guys, we deserve better. I've never heard Obama say something that left me scratching my head and

thinking, "WTF?"
